PassionFord Post Whore!!
rev it hard and it will move a little, but you will feel like youre thrashing it and it will sound like it also, the only reason i sold mine was cos i wanted the turbo "push you back in the seat" feeling again.
I put a K+N in mine and gained about 4 seconds in 5th gear to 90mph from what ever it was (sold it nearly 3 1/2 years ago)

It's not a great sports car but it's got some punch but it's pretty much at the top so yeah it needs thrashing. The gearbox has been renowned for being a 'lazy' box, don't know why but it seems it is slow and sluggish compared to the MTX75. Depends what you are looking for really. They are very cheap to buy now though.

A number of people have called it a lazy box. I myself don't know why as stated but the reason is because the standard 2.0 zetec does 0-60 in about a second slower than the ST170 and the ST170 has about 30ish more horses at least.
Like I said, I don't know why, but the ST170's sluggish 0-60 was attributed to its box I heard.
This thread was what I was thinking of also
