2-3 grand will only get you a ropey 2wd saph mate to be honest, save you money and wait til you can spend a bit more and get a decent saph/3 door,
good points,
they are quick, legendary, quite easy to get decent power out of them,
bad points
they break alot, cunts are always trying to nick em, a mare to insure especially if you are young, parts cost a fucking bomb and are slowly becoming more scarce
Good luck on ya quest

4-5k is going to be a better start! However you really need to have a few k spare for when it breaks! Unless its a second car that is and you can take your time repairing/servicing it

6-7K decent saph
7-10k decent 3 door
13-20k decent escos
20k-upwards decent daddy RS500
The trick is to buy a phat one thats been tuned up already and yes stage 3 tune and beyond cossie are rapido

people make the mistake of buying a cheap cosworth and end up spending a fortune on it as its rotten
you'd be better of having £5000 for a decent one that has already been done
2-3k you're better off getting a scooby as Fuzzy says

2-3k?
mate i would seriously recommend you go to your bank and have around 8-10k cash readily available.
you dont want to buy a shed of a cossie.. and one thats been modified already are usually pains in the ass but if the work has been done by a pro then your looking around 7-8k anyway.

I'm drunk. Not that this will make a difference, I'm about as sharp as the steering response on a Kia Picanto. Mainly due to the fact that I was a clumsy kid and always bumping into things head first. My brain has had more hits than the beatles.

mine was bought from a middle aged lady that owned it for nine years she had a late escos engine fitted plus a few goodies, body work not amazing but a massive pile of receipts and a good base for tuning. I gave her £2200 last year

imho dont even start looking unless you have 5k tucked in your pocket. even then don't expect to not spend more money.
a good rule peple often quote is that if youre looking to buy a cossie, make sure you can afford to buy it TWICE over

you might aswell go for a subaru sti thats a 300bhp+ which will chase cossies and make them look funny lolz... plus jap quality is much stronger and reliable then ford lol.
respect to cossies but to be honest they are a very expensive game...and slightly over rated cars....for 3k you can get a head turner subaru
