I never entertain them. Firstly I don't even have a house phone connected to the wall, thats one problem out of the way. Secondly if you come to my door the answer is no before you have even started your pitch. If I am busy I wont even answer the door.

If you call me at work and say " hi this is john from orange customer" hang up before he finishes. Who gave you the right to call me?

I remember just sitting in my living room watching these two smartly dressed Jehov. Witnesses walking down my path. They saw me through the window, rung the bell and waited an extremely "polite" length of time before figuring out I wasn't going to move. I was playing a CSS clan match and wouldn't have moved if the queen had rung the door bell.

I hate cold callers

See, thats where your going wrong....

Your suppose to say hang on tick, I'll just put you on hold and then carry on with what you were doing. Then look at your phone afterwards to see how long they held on for. I think the longest I've had HSBC on "hold" for was about 8 minutes. Fuck knows what he was saying but it sounded like he was getting blown at the time.

Have you signed up for this? It takes a while to kick in but it does work with nuisance sales calls, etc, etc.

someone on a well known mitsubishi evo forum once told me they ask the caller "what colour nickers are you wearing" and they usually hang up.
i have tried this method quite a few times since and once had a
cockney chick tell me they were red,and then she asked me
what colour mine were,i told her i don't wear nickers .

It's illegal to cold call in the UK. Don't bother answering it if caller ID says 'Unavailable'. If it says 'Withheld' it's from the UK, if it's 'Unavailable' it's from abroad, and doubtless a cold call from some cock wanting to sell you a mobile.

I just hang up when they start jabbering - the only people who ring me generally are people I know or am expecting a call from, so anyone else gets bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........................

I do the hold thing.

"Hi, yes i'll be right with you, just going to put you on hold a second"

No idea how long they hang around, I never bother to check.

If they call me on the housephone I ask them for their home number, and say I'll call them later on when they arent working, after all if its important enough to waste my free time on, its important enough for them to waste theirs on
