depends what you want to use it for, if its just something to use whn the weather is nice then i would say 2wd, but if like me you want a car that you can dive come rain or shine, it has to be a 4x4.

same story with power, 2wd drivetrain will take alot more abuse than the 4x4

tbh i think it depends majorly on driver ability, yes a 2wd is considerably more lairy, if you go wrong your fucked, but after going out with davecos4x4 i do retract that a 4x4 Cossie is for a gay/girl as the handling was absolutely amazing.

I think having only driven a 2wd Cossie and not a 4x4 one im slightly biased towards 2wd

I went with the 4x4 option 1st cause all i had driven was fwd cars, was using it in all weathers and up here in scotland it pisses with rain constantly. now that i only use it on good days, so its 2wd cossie time

I'm really surprised how easy the 2wd cossie is to handle, i've driven rwd sierra's before and expected my first cossie to be a right handful but it's loads of fun and seems to be easy controllable

Go for stage 1, much more torquey, so don't need to rag it so much.
2wd or 4wd ?, big question, 4wd much more stable and will help keep you out of trouble better, people I know who have had 2wd and 4wd have always gone back to 2wd.

advantages of each

4wd - look better in standard trim
- more grip (less ohh sh!t! moments)
- later ones keep their value the best
- Aircon
- L8 ECU's and closed loop (on latest models)

2wd - Handle better (IMO)
- gearbox is far stronger
- sideways moments
- cheaper

my advice is to drive both, and also test drive a few cars, dont just buy the first one (unless its REALLY good) find someone on here local that will check it out for a few beers if you are unsure of the mechnical side of things. Then get it checked over and setup when you have bought one

i want sideways fun.but my heart tells me 4wd maybe a better option all round.the car will be driven most days to work, which is about 3miles each way.i know that will not do the engine any good...but it will be taken out for a good spin when not at work or sleeping, lol.

ive had over 30 sierras loads of rwd 2.0l gls/ghia

at least 10 xr4x4 all 2.9`s one twin turbo and 2 24v granada cosworth conversions

when i bought my first cossie i bought a standard 4x4 h-reg saph,and stage 3 it,was an excellent car

then bought a j-reg 4x4 saph all ready stage 3

both excellent cars but i got too used to them too quick and urged for more driver input fun

so i bought the 3-door rwd of course and ive never stopped modifing it,right now im hoping for 450-500bhp and yes the car is a handful at times but thats what i love about it

and ive now just bought a standard 2wd saph cause i like them that much

but the reason i opted for 4x4 in the first place was reading so many books on them and the 4x4 seemed a much better devoloped car,ie managment, turbo, thicker roll bars, vented rear brakes, came with leather mostly

but to be honest all this can be done to an older rwd car and the chances are most will have been welded so the newer the better isnt always true

my first saph had low owners sheds loads of recipts but still required welding to rear chassis legs where as my 3-door was mint

LOL......the two cars arent even comparable in ANY way!!! FWD vs RWD for starters......you'll also need a flat cap, pipe & slippers if you're thinking of driving a ovlov!!!
