Default Recomend me a new PC monitor (21"+)

OK, i'm currently using a 21" Samsung Syncmaster 213T. had it a few years when it was pretty shit hot and new.

anyway, it's a 1600x1200 native res dual input DVI/VGA but it's big failing is it's got a 25ms timer on it, so games are very blurry

anyway, i fancy something with a better timer, and if i'm upgrading i might aswell go a bit bigger or at LEAST the same size.

problem is it seems all the monitors out there nowadays are all widescreen 16:9 native resolutions i want to keep my 1600x1200 resolution minimum really

so, can anyone reccomend a good monitor from experience?

If your wanting picture quality then you cant get anything better than something like this
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135253

Dell are the best for pc screens but also the most expensive(but not that much more really for what your getting)

Also my mate has a 20" samsung syncmaster and his other mate bought his Dell round and he said the Dell looked alot better with regards to colours etc.

I use a Samsung syncmaster aswell by the way

I think there are some gorgeous 16:9 displays out there..

How about a couple of 19's, or 3x17's and get horny with the extended desktop?

personally i think thats a waste of time/space, id much rather bin the two smaller ones in favour of a 24" or something

Jim, I have an HP 2207 22" monitor and its excellent quality, I run at 1680x1050 on my PC and 1080p on the Xbox 360 via HDMI and the picture is fine on either. It has a glossy black screen and the black levels and whites look very good as a result. They also do a HP 2408 24" model as well.

My monitor can run 1600x1200 but I have never used it to be honest as I find 1680x1050 more comfortable to read text on. You can also pivot the monitor to give you a portrait picture if you wish.

no there not, the Dell screens are great, nothing like their rep for pc units.

Like i said my mate compared his 5month old 20" samsung against a Dell side by side and he said it was better.

Hes like a proper nerd so i always trust his opinions

Dell monitors use Samsung panels tho

And I've always bought Dell monitors because they are cheap, not the other way round...... They certainly aren't the best out there thats for sure - there are many monitors that have much better specs....

I run a 22 inch iiyama - its not what u are after as its the same res as tonyk's - but that plus a 19 inch one running dual is MORE than enough for anything that I get up to.

Two monitors is the way fwd, I hate working with one now.

i work with 2 monitors, but thats not suitable for home as i want something for GAMES.

thjats the main reason for keeping the squarer resolution, some of the older games dont support widescreen resolutions, and some of the newer ones won't run perfectly in the native res

The 2408" is a 1920x1200 native screen res, 5ms, HDCP compatible. It can be had for about Ł300 from Microdirect.co.uk.

Yes but Jim wants a 4:3/5:4 screen NOT a 16:9/16:10 screen....

Jim - I am a gamer and use my 22" widescreen monitor - only shitty old games are a problem. and frankly, having a second 19inch square monitor means i can play them on that.
