another plumbing Q
Sorry
Right I have a leak on my combi boiler. The old mans been round and had a look (45 years gas service engineer) but to be honest he doesn't like messing with stuff in his own time and even less so for me its still leaking so I've decided to have a go at it myself.
I have a joint with an O ring between two plastic components on the hot water out side of things, now I've had it off and the O ring looks sound but I took it off and turned it over anyway but its still leaking, so then I decided to take it off and wrap some PTFE around the O ring and it still leaks, now I'm not keen on how this joint is held together, it just pushes together and is held in place by a metal U shaped pin
Is it worth trying some sort of sealant as well or is something fucked?

here are some pics Tiff, although I cant get any pics of it apart as I've only just put it back together with a bit of instant gasket stuff
Combi is a glow worm compact 75E.
What I'll do is take it apart again tomorrow (as no doubt it will still be leaking ) and take some pics of the joint, although its a pretty simple straight forward O ring style connection.
Looking at it from the front
Looking from directly underneath
Underneath again but slightly to one side

Nomally just a new o ring seal with a little silicone grease will do it, but push it on straight otherwise you'll pinch the o ring seal, are you sure the black plastic? valves / bodys are not cracked?
If its just the o ring and you havent got any new ones, remove the old o ring carefully, wrap some PTFE around were the o ring should go 2-3 times only and refit the old O R, some silicone grease and hey presto.
Try that.
