Sometimes you will get away with it if they look like treads, but official line I believe is that you cant.

I was told this too. Also that the car is more likely to roll.

Could be wrong though.

you'd probably have a job setting the car up with slicks. The stiffer side walls and the extra grip would warrant different springs maybe? and coilovers, adjustable damping etc. This would then lead to faster corner speed as suggested. If you didn't improve the damping the car would probably have too much roll

Even when I changed from Avon A11's to Michelin S5B's, it took me an afternoon to find the new damper settings, everything was stiffer due to the extra grip.

If everyone had slicks, the lap times would definately improve until someone found the limit and then... I've got photos if you're interested.

The reason is simple - slickers are faster in the corners.

people crash at the corners....

you crash going faster it hurts more!!!

Hi all

The reason that slicks ar technically banned at Combe is because amateurs dont realize they need to be warmed up, and Combe have had several first lap crashes because of this.

Cut slicks are acceptable

Slicks can b used if agreed with Combe in advance and you hold a suitable race licence.
