The roll bars on DAXs always seem to be useless. Not only are they too short but look at the way it is angles back. Asking to be broken off in a roll. Som back stays would be the answer.

Actually applies to a lot of the motorised coffins..... - the roll bars are always either a token gesture, or poorly designed.

The old bar on mine may as well been made out of chocolate. It was rubbish, hence why I changed to an RAC approved version with a forward stay too. I may go the whole hog and get the front section caged as well now. Be a bit heavier, but i'll just turn the boost up to compensate!

Best get it done before saturday... as you bathtub is going to take OFF at Combe...

Stephen C - thanks for pointing that out (the petrol!) was it right at the start of a session because i always fill it right up since the take off is at the right side resulting in fuel starvation on long rights after 4-5 laps. this means a small amount gets stuck in the filler and drops out as soon as you boot it
Rocky Robin - most seven type cars have shite roll over bars. even if the bar is higher than the dax (which all are), a line drawn from bar to the front-most hard point invariably has the head above it. the question is do you wnat to be dead or cabbaged
Garage 19 - no where to connect any stays to - the tank is in the way
Chip - you're right it was mostly running crap. to start with could not get more than 1 bar boost at all and once had done say 1 lap and the thing heated up was miss-firing at 4.5k + anyway. Lawnsy correctly diagnosed the lack of boost due to leaking dump valve but still had bad miss fire.
Couldn't even get on the track at first as it failed noise test @ 103. down to darlington poundstrecher to buy brillo pads and a leccy drill and retest showed 96. there was so many brillo pads in it that there was NO boost at all untill it eventually all melted and fell out at which point the marshalls realised that it was not actually very noisy on drive past anyway so let me off!
A great day anyway and thanks to all involved

LOL at brillo pad's bet they smelt nice.
Good spot on the pic.
The problem is with any cage in an open top car is if you roll onto something soft. I.e. gravel traps.

The RAC bars fitted to Westfields and Caterhams do the job. My thought are if I was to get another track orientatted Caterham it would have a full cage. This was its a double wammy, full protection and a much stiffer chassis.
Talking about brillow pads![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I wouldn't even consider driving one fast without the full cage round me.
I went out for a lap of the ring in one and it was terrifying being that close to the ground. An m5 that went past looked the same size as the titanic...
scary!
ps - the one I was in had a full cage and a very complicated entry and exit strategy lol

still reckon the head is sticking out of a line between the top of the cage and the hardest part at the front (prob the front of the can cover).
btw how does the air get to that rear tub mounted radiator?

I was waiting for someone to post some dax pictures of the RAC cage - I would but mines still in bits and looks like a climbing frame ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
In defence of Dax's standard bars (I know they are low) they are an integeral part of the chassis and run down the rear bulk head to where the car could be jacked up (5" off the floor), not bolted to the top of the chassis like some other types.

The session i was out with him we did overtake a evo and a escos so it's not that slow.....just a shame after 3 laps the new 071 plugs that were put in for croft started to miss at high revs...
Oh and cheers again for the passinger ride PGT...

Think my old one was the higher type - rac as its put on here. Still think a cage is a much wiser idea as I often felt a little exposed when it was out of shape on small roads.
I thought my cars passenger seat was funnier, yes it is fitted in that pic and the harnesses are there........
