No ford win at time attack
#6
I never compared the VW to a Cossie.... Likewise I never made a reference to vehicle age.
I was just suggesting that the reason why a VW beetle has never won time attack is due not to it being a bad car, but due to the fact there are better cars for that discipline, the same can be said for the Cosworth
The EVO, the Scoobys and others are simply better cars with regards to time attack and that's why the ford scene does not do as well.

Renton did well enough considering in 2007, getting into the Superbattle finals in most rounds in the 3dr, and thats deffo not the biggest spec car or bestest ever driver of a Ford is it.
In 2007 at least (not looked at the car this year) the Tein/Autosportif Impreza was well under 500bhp, suprisingly.
Its a track, its about power as much speed round the corners.

Happily retired
Kevs EVO is 740bhp on race fuel, he won last years Club Competion but is not at the Top this year & he spent 20k before the start of this years events but he really needs to spend another 15k to get back to the Top of Club & he aint got that kinda dosh, so he is finishing shy of the Top 3 at the mo. Its a big money game to win even at Club level.

Keep up Mike you old fart
Yeah Gareth Lloyd won the first ever Time Attack event at GTBattle in 2005, and quite convincingly I might add, but since then its been a bit of lean times for the Fords unfortunately.
Perhaps its because a lot of you guys have been too interested in gleaning maximum bhp and going in straight lines or maybe having to modify a Ford much too heavily in the chassis department and needing slicks to be competitive - who knows, but I'm sure things will turn around when someone pulls their finger out.

no prize money im afraid
i did finish 4th overall in clubclass in 2006 with a modest grp n car with 400bhp
last year finished 12th overall only finishing at knockhill, due to reliability issues converted the car to grp a big diffs gearboxes engines etc and went faster in 2006 spent in excess of £20k to go slower,
thats why now i drive the audi 400bhp its been 100%, only breakage has been a wheelbearing and a dead battery wouldnt get that with the escort im afraid
do love the cossies though thats why i have put a deposit on another grp n escort rallycar
