Google is your friend....................

Hate it when people post things to ask a question and hide behind that but infact they really want people to know what they are doing

You'll be fine with Sat Nav, I fly quite regularly with one. It's when you have a 12v to 240v power inverter in your bag that they ask questions...

Google is your friend for stuff that doesnt change very often, its virtually imposisble to "date" a lot of the results so when you get conflicting pages back its hard to know which to take notice of, so just wanted to know if someone had recent experience of it, why the fuck would I care if people know what im doing or not when its something as dull as going and collecting a car for someone? Hell its not even an interesting car its a 2.0 vauxhall vectra

no need chip, the plane probably has autopilot and the pilot probably knows where he's going

I would of agreed with you, had he said 'I am going to see the Queen, I am one of 2 people in the whole world going'. But, to collect a car?

Any chance you could post us some pictures of the rear drums? Put a can of coke next to them so we can see for real just how big they are.

When the stewardess comes over the tannoy announcing the pilot and copilot have fainted you'll be able to step up. "Have no fear, I have sat nav!"

There's no technical reason you can't have one, even at take-off... but no doubt some jobsworth somewhere will stick their boot in to can it.

I have a hand held Garmin and have had no problems (with it turned on).

The first time I used it (on BA) I asked the stewardess (sp?) and she said it was OK as I had asked and she knew where I was sat if there was any interferance issues. I think she just liked me

I have never asked since and been OK, you get a few funny looks and one stewardess asked me to turn my phone off, when I told her it was a GPS she didnt mind.

Just cover your arse and ask them before you turn it on. unless you have a window seat and clip it to the visor there useless on a plane anyway. Even with a window seat make sure it knows where it is before you take off otherwise mine struggles to suss it out when allready travelling at 500 mph

GPS is a receiver only, not a transmitter

I dont have ANY interest in turning it on until im on my way home anyway, just wasnt sure if electrical gizmos were allowed in hand luggage or if they thought that meant you were trying to blow the plane up.

That was where I was coming from.. but no doubt some idiot somewhere will rule against it!! Never mind the fact the plane has multiple GPS receivers onboard!
