idle probs

Default idle probs

hello all , im new here ,got myself a escort 1.8 si got engine probs its idleing up and down heard it could be lambda sensor but changed that still got probs theres no problem in starting it but the drive is not right feels like its pulling back could it be the maf ( where is that anyway ) is it located above air filter it looks like a sensor but when i unplug it engine stalls or what about cat its a 1996 model please help cheers

You might just need to clean the Idle Speed Control Valve, whip it off and clean it with WD40 ( I used carb cleaner on mine and it is much better now but I dont want to say use that, incase someone goes on that it could damage it).

not sure on the zetec, but i would guess it is on the side/next to the throttle body/inlet like on the CVH, it is a silver cylinder about 1" dia and 2" long.
