As said forget once and engine rebuild time.
You just need a std SPST relay, single pole single throw relay, it will have 30/85/86/87 marked on it.
Wiring is easy 30 to battery(through fuse/25amp)
87 to fans(LIVE), other side of fans to earth
85 to earth
86 to switch(fan switch/LIVE) so live one side of fan switch and other side is output to 86.

cheers Chris, obviously i'll be replacing all the wiring, but what cable did you use? and where did you mount the relay?

30amp wiring, (3.0 - 3.5mm2)

Best to fit relay in the car, so dont get wet.

Mt relay is mounted on the nearside winf area near the bettery as it gets nice and hot there so deters moisture.
Use either 28/030 or 32/020 thinwall wire, for fan supply in/out through relay, others can be just 14/030 as no real amount current.

Fit anything less than 30amp wiring, and the fan's wont run @ full speed.

You do like to argue, Why's that???

its one of those saying, cant teach a old dog anything they dont want to know, if they are stuck in there ways.

OK, To anyone else reading this,
do a test, fit a 2.0mm wire to the battery +, then 3.0mm wire to the battery, and do a back to back test, putting the wire to the fans...
You will notice the difference in the fan speed.
