Default Citroen C5's

Anybody have one of these or got experience of them?

I've got an opportunity to pick one of these up for what I think is a bargain. Car is a 53 with only 25k miles. It's the 2.0 HDI.

Car would be used as a Private Hire car. Citroens aren't really my thing but as this will basically be a tool for making money I'm not going to get too bothered about looks etc. Currently using an 05 Skoda Superb which has given us 270k trouble free miles. If I can pick up this citroen for a good price and I know it will run and run without having to visit the garage every other week then it might be worth a punt.

Anyone?

Skoda will be far better built than the c5

HDI's can suffer from noisy injectors......£200 each

my 306 hdi has a very loud injector and its annoying to say the least

i have heard that the oil pumps are guilty of packing in and hump the bottom end

they do go well tho

Skoda is getting replaced by another Superb in September. Citroen is an additional vehicle.

Fuck it, I'll go have a look at it, probably end up buying it tbh. If it doesn't work out I'll sell it on.

Take it that was a recall? How can I find out. Would Citroen dealer be able to give that info out over the phone?

Cheers

Easily achievable. Car works from 0530 - 0200 most days. I'm working tonight from about 5pm till just after 2 am. I'll easily do over 200 miles. The day driver will probably do about the same. Sunday to thursday we don't do as much, Friday & Saturday are big tho. 2000 miles a week is not outwith the norm.

Biggest problem with the car the now is the smell. Can't get rid of it. Just the combined smell of all people over the last 3 years. Drivers seat is particularly bad. That's with covers on as well

Still drives a treat, although it has a thing for eating CV joints. Only thing I could criticise with the Superb (mechanically anyway).

Citroen would be mainly used during the day and also at nights at the weekend as I don't think there would be enough work for it to run from start to finish, hence the reason I'm not wanting to buy a new car. This could give me a decent wee return for little outlay. For a wee while anyway

There Shite!

Our company run Citroens ( 300 + vehicles ) and we no longer buy the C5's as theyve proved unreliable and costly.
The new one is supposed to be great ( german technology ) but cant comment for them.

Better with a C4,C6 or C8 IMO

Or a belingo ( car version )
