No wonder many ford owners are going to them.Great cars. The M3 e46 from 12k now to, unbeleivable cars for the cash. But the creme de month is the lastest M5 from 30k![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)

I'm currently thinking of buying either a new shape M5 or an M6 but I have been watching the prices for a while & they are dropping big time!
I may hold back for a few months & see what happens.

That reminds me, now that AJ mentioned new M5 or M6, does anybody actually have one on here?
There are plenty of E36 and E46 owners on here and people seem to be interested in the E39s as well now but nobody own a E60 M5 or new M6?
Z4M?

Ive looked a few E46 M3s lately, and even the ones for 15k looked shonky if you knew what you was looking for, so fuck knows what the 12k ones are like!
Same with the M5s I guess, which is a shame as I love M5s

The lastest m5 is dropping like mike i mean a few months ago nothing under 45k now from 28k (cat d one on auto trader) then 30k for a straight one.How much more will they drop?507bhp for that money is crazy,if they hit 25k i'd seriously be looking into one.

Yeah but think why theyre suddenly this price now ,
The running costs have always been high for these and now think how much a tank of petrol costs ? they must be 80 - 90 litre tanks so thats well over £100 to fill up and how many miles do you get to a tank ? 2 - 300 ? And then if the government get their way the tax will be £400 for cars post 91
Seems to me people are trying to get rid whilst they can still get a decent price for em which is good news for people looking at buying one

I think the reason they're cheap is because when they're high mileage they become a liability. Imagine the cost of a gearbox, head gasket replacement or any other serious work. At least with a Cosworth you can do the work yourself and find the bits (most of the time). A 100k+ mile M5 has the potential to cost you a fortune.

why cant you do the work on an M5 or any car your self? its only nuts and bolts, same as a cosworth.
An M5 @ 100K is just loosening up, making its full potential, the same with alot of modern machinary

its the same for alot of modern cars, not just bmws,
for example ill bet your focus if loooked after correctly will make more power on a rolling road at 100k than 10k, im not in anyway an expert but ive read articals on this, if theres any tunners in this thread

err... what cars don't loose money? well classics aside!
simple fact of the matter is most people want new cars these days, making older cars more disposable, meaning more on the market and less potential buyers... hence huge deprieciation... if you keep saying you won't buy a car coz it'll loose a load of money you'll find life has slipped you by... and you drove something cr@p for most of it

You are alive today and you cannot predict the future, unless you have got kids i wouldnt give a fuck about the future and i dont.
Yes the M5 is massively engineered hardly big bhp for the capacity! Can anyone say wether the V10 is the same?

the ass has dropped out of the 2nd hand car market, i buy and sell a few but havent for a while because nobody is buying top motors at the moment. Its great if your a buyer at the moment looking for such cars like m3's etc
seen a tidy 2001 m3 convertible in cosmos black with 53k go for 11k recently - stupidly cheap, 18 months ago that was a 16k car

given the rising costs of petrol, owning a M5 is an expensive hobby. I fill up (£80quid) and it last 280 miles until the yellow light is on....probably get to 320 if i ran it dry.
If petrol hits the £2 per litre by the end of the year thats been forecast it would be about £150 to fill the tank twice a week.....sod that....you can have mine for £5k cos Ill be buying a hybrid LOL
