Default 4 year old petrol

Does petrol go off much?
Mate's cossie hadn't been started for a year, and off the road for nearly 4.
Started first time, and ran fine for half hour, then coughed and died.
Started a couple times, but took effort and soon died.
Am hoping a couple gallons of fresh petrol would sort it?

Lol 8 months vs 4 years
Just hoping something in the management registered a certain temp, along with crap petrol, and said fuck you!
Ran perfectly up 'til then.

Clean all the filters and lines and mix it up it should be ok. Just top the tank up, the new fuel will prob cost twice as much as half a tank did 4 year ago lol

It's got less than 1/4 tank in it, gonna stick couple gallons in later.
Any idea why it randomly conked out Tabetha?
Being a cossie could be one of a million things I know...

I asked the same question on here a while back, lol

Well, I've had petrol in a tank for just over 3 years. I wasn't going to use it in the car, but wondered if I could chuck it in the mower, the quadbike or owt. I chucked it in the mower, did the trick!

I wouldn't make boost on fuel thats 4 months old, let alone 4 years. If my sits around for a few weeks, I pootle around until that tank is gone, then refill it with fresh stuff before giving it any shit.

Well it smelt a bit funny, but it's the first non cat car I've smelt running up close for years

Just want to know why it all of a sudden conked out

Mike - I suppose a mower will be less sensitive not having sensors etc?

Christian - Interesting to know!

I didn't realise it could go off so quick, this may be part of the cossies boosting problem last year as it sits for weeks without going anywhere...
