Far more important than just price.

The trouble with AG Super Resin is it contains rubbing compounds and I have noticed on dark cars it does eventually cause swirling. I like Meguiars as an everyday wax, always willing to try anything better

Megs is an everyday wax, as that's how long it lasts.
Lovely to use though.

Sorry I meant 'everyday' as cheap, if it only protects for a day and you have to apply for a day, well sod that!

Well a decent product 2 or 3 times the price would work out cheaper mate, as it would last so much longer!
Is cheap and cheerful and easy to use for your average Joe however, just there's ok, and there's really good; Halfords don't do the latter.

Autoglym is shite stuff now imo, very powdery and doesn't leave a great finish, lots of other good products out there Euan.
I use poorboys and Megs etc, look on detailing world and you'll have all the info you need to make a choice!

It sounds like its either too hot (air temp and/or the panel) or its because your not applying it as evenly as you should be mate. Ive done countless amounts of black cars without a problem with AG. The other reason may be that the paintwork, polish or cloths are contaminated with something.

None of my quality waxes leave dust.
Some of the polishes I use on the machine are dusty, meant to be.
Just use a spray or two of detailing spray or similar, not difficult.

If anyone wants to ask I'm happy to talk through my own personal recommendations of products I have found to work best on various RS paint colours etc. Thanks for the recommendations above, much appreciated. I have worked on huge amounts of RS's and Fords, and have massive experience on Ford paints and colours. If you have a question about your own car, ask away as there's a good chance i'll have already worked on a Ford the same colour
There's been some good products mentioned in this thread, although not all are polishes like you (Euan) are currently using - some are waxes designed to go on after the polish.
For a black car, consider replacing the SRP with Poorboy's Polish with Carnauba Blue - no dust, no chalk, no white marks. It works great on black cars - goes on thinly and comes off easily. Doesn't mind if the gutters of the car drip water on it either - in fact, it applies best using a damp applicator. Really, really easy to use Then you can finish off with a wax over the top.
As an example of what you can achieve on black, here's my Panther Black ST, which had a rubbish finish from the dealers compound before i set to work on it:
And a teaser picture of a 911 detail I completed:
Admittedly, these cars had a little more than a quick hand polish and wax But it shows you what you can achieve

Hopefully the post is okay and won't be deleted I think i've now edited and worded it suitably so it won't be. It would be a shame not to be able to post pictures of my own car and to help members without breaking rules!

I hope so, i've been attending Ford shows etc long before any of this existed - this is just personal interest. All those that have seen my FRST at shows and meets over the years know that i've always been 'particular' about how it's presented!

I've purchased loads and loads of stuff off gareth over the past couple of years and found his service and knowledge second to none.
Plus he delivers on time, with all stuff packaged spot on with detailed instructions as well.
I'd recommend him over anyone else out there TBH!

I had my bonnet painted panther black with matt lacquer and i'm not supposed to go near it with polish, as it will ruin it
but i use a Nielsen showroom gloss polish in the wash bucket and it looks great after just a wash with that and it doesn't mark the black plastic or rubber seals
It only lasts a couple of weeks though
