Default Diesel Gerbox for RST?

anyone know if a mondeo 2.0TDDI Gearbox will fit my CVH engine?

Also will I need the clutch and fly wheel or can I use the CVH?

I have seen many people in the past in mags and on websites saying they have a diesel Gearbox what’s the Score?

Any info is appreciated

Cheers

Most people think that a diesel gearbox is stronger, but that is crap. The only reason people fit a diesel box is for a taller 5th gear.

The MTX75, IB5, or the BC? Yes, for all. You can't use a IB5 or a MTX75 with a rear mounted starter as it will interfere with the CVH oil filter. MTX75 also needs special gearbox mountings and modded driveshafts because of the spline pattern. You also can't transferr your RST's LSD to the MTX75 box, it will go into the IB5 though. mk3/mk4 Escort diesel boxes are not any stronger than the RST BC gearbox. However, the later ~92- (?) Escort 1.8 Diesel boxes are IB5 boxes and have larger bearings on the crucial places. I'm also using a large IB5 bearing with a separate inner runner in the BC boxes I have built. Haven't broken any yet.

Also the MTX75 box has a larger main shaft meaning you will have to use the flywheel and clutch to suit the MTX75 box.

So it's the twin-layshaft Getrag box. Never seen one in an RST before. It propably won't go together with a CVH block and needs a Zetec bottom end for the starter(?) All the newer bosex also have a cable controlled gearchange mechanism.
