My Sky+ box is really starting to do my head in, channels 1 - 5 only work intermitently, saying not recieving signal, but if i turn it off and back on, it sometimes fixes it, is there anything i can do to fix this or as the warrenty has litteraly just expired, is it time to upgrade to HD?

 

tuner fault, did you get it thru Sky? If so i would think they will replace it anyway. HD box is ok, but it is 10 more a month for not many channels. And apperantly the new HD boxes are coming out now, and are way more reliable than the first lot. My HD box is a bag of crap frankly.

 

Check the connectors at the back and on the dish, we had all sorts of trouble with ours because we had a dodgy engineer fit it in the first place

 

Is it just today/last few days.
We have the same at the mo. Its when its muggy out side and due a storm. Usually know when we are due a storm as the sky starts messing me about.

if you want to upgrade to skyHD it's deffo worth it for the extra content you do get

but only if you are watching telly all the time or there is someone who is at your gaff

it's the difference between watching video and dvd, but the next level upwards and i'm glad i got it

regarding your problems with channels 1 - 5, it might just need a reboot of the box, there is a sequence of buttons you need to press to get the box to reinitialise itself and start from scratch with the tuning but i'm not sure if this will wipe the hdd or not

 

Ive just had the same problem on all channels! Works then doesnt, kept getting a sign saying no signal etc etc

Sky have been out and changed my sky plus box! Only had it a few weeks and already getting trouble!

Before that, trouble free in 4 years.....
