Default Ferrys, Ireland to liverpool

would anyone know how long it takes for a car ferry crossing from Dublin to Liverpool?

just wondering if its quicker to drive from northern ireland down to Dublin then get the ferry back to liverpool, or if its quicker to go from belfast.

or just drive down from belfast to Dublin and cross over to Holly head then make the rest of the drive from there!!

i know from past experiences the belfast - liverpool route is about a 10h crossing.

costs will make a difference to my plans aswell, hmmm

it is about 8 hours from dublin to liverpool and it would take about 3 hours to get from n.ireland to dublin (the traffic in dublin is a pain in the arse) so if it was me i would go belfast to liverpool thats the way i go when going to england the ferry leaves at 22.30. and gets you in at 0630

i think thats the ferrys crossing ive used in the past mate.

think it was norse merchant, or a name along those lines - but that was all paid for by work.

im thinking of flying over to view a car, if its what i want then obviously ill be driving it home, but want to keep time scales as short as possible for being away from work.

Cheers Steven.

i spent a year working between Belfast and Whitehead, stayed in Carrickfergus. that was back in 2005.

this is purely for getting a car home if i like it

is the person bringing the car to the airport, for you to see.as the new port tunnel is only15/20 mins between airport and ferry[it is tolled for cars,im not sure how much tbh]which would save you a bit of time.

i havent got to that level of discussions on the car yet.

i was happily going to rent a car from the airport and go to view the car from cold.

I'd fly from liverpool to Derry with Scumbagair (ryanair),and if you buy the car drive to belfast and get the ferry to stanraer. Its the shortest ferry crossing between the 2 islands. Then drive down back home.No one in their right mind would want to spend 8-10 hours on a poxy car ferry mate!!!Regards,Micky

Aint a clue how long it takes, but I can get them for £1 each way - remember, the ferreies used to be owned by British Rail, and as a consequence, on some routes we get major discounts - such as Hollyhead - Ireland
