Mk's best is 12.6 on road tyres.
Tim has hit a 12.7 I beleive on drag radials.
Mine ran a 13.1 on would have run a 12 but I decided to strip it instead

We ran a 4.9 to 60, 9.6 to 100mph and a 12.8 @ 121 mph in a 268hp nova so that Fiesta should be roughly on par with that

They're practically identical times.

Paul Ripley did, consistently. It's not hard, stripped out fiesta, mild zetec turbo, decent tyres and a non-stupid suspension setup. A good driver helps.

tehn perhaps we need more built like this, instead of balls out power

SID runs mid to high 12's I believe in ERST.. SOY only got down to 13.1 due to silly tyres/suspension.

I think the lack of good times is down to the type of owners Ford generally have....
People who enjoy using power on the road rather than just building cars to do good figures at a single discipline

That was at the redline Brunters thrash, it ran
12.5@119 up the pod on 888's.
One of the 12.5 runs below, was possibly going to be the best run ever but the gearbox wasn't playing ball

i think thats bollocks!
more like people who aim for stupid power figures to impress people on t'internet, then are scared to push said cars to the limit incase they break them
. this isn't a dig at anyone, it just seems like this is always the way with the ford scene

nope, the problem with RST owners is that they all set out to go for balls out power, hence why the vauxhall boys have been whipping our arses with comparatively low power for ages
Edit: ^^^ Damn, beat me to it

As far as I am aware, SOY never ran 13.1.
He was always just a shot behind Jamie Going (Jamsport) who was doing 13.1 nearly 10 years ago.

Quickest FWD car in the UK is a renault 5 GT Turbo if I am not mistaken on low 11's.

couldn't agree more, it's about time we saw more of them out been "used", there's no point having them wrapped up in cotton wool all the time.

There was an 8v nova running 11.3 about 5 years ago, on slicks.
Road legal tyres Ive never heard of any renault 5 getting under 12 personally

IIRC fastest R5GTT on road legal tyres is 11.4, and there have been road legal ones in the 11s for a long time.
There are various FWDs in the UK running 10s and VERY low 11s now, all the ones on 10s are on slicks mind, but they running low 10s all the same

me too
reason most the RSTs dont do good times are they much shitter than the owners make out on the internet
if they was fast theyd give good 0-100 or top speeds even if had no grip, but most dont give shit.

Ford owners seem more interested in polishing than drag racing generally.
Which isnt a bad thing as such, just means that in discussions like this the cars arent well represented.

I'm sure I read that somewhere, I was impressed with the 1 second gain on slicks !
Just read that he pulled a 10.6 at the PTM show, looked like 10.6 is his PB, my error. still mentally fast though

perhaps you could help here chip, with your knowledge of the dark side... tell these ford people how to go faster
here's a good hint, and one that is mostly overlooked by the ford lot:
use proper tyres, not eagle f1's, not a539's. get some R888's or A048's and get some descent 60ft times in!
