just in the process of buying an evo and the lad as his private plate still on the car. He wants the plate back but dosent have another car to put it on yet. He is saying that he can sell me the car but with no logbook till he has sorted the plate out as if i have the logbook signed over to me i then own his private plate. Does anyone know the crack with this as iam unsure and the missus is sick of waiting for the car....

he doesnt hve to have a car to put the plate on, just get him to put it on retention and sell you the car!

How long does it take to put it on retention and for me to get the original reg back?

if he goes to dvla they do it that day for him all paperwork and that

About 7 working days to get the plate on retention & then anything upto about a month after that to get the log book back with the new reg on.

If he goes to dvla and does it on the day will he bring any part of the logbook back with him?

They dont do it on the same day, you can take your documents in & the retention fee but it will still take anything upto 7 working days to get the retention cert & he wont have any part of the log book to bring back from the dvla.

why dont he sell you car with plate on and then once u got logbook in your name get the plate off and him give you the money then you send him the plates back
