Default pectel systems

whats the benefits of these over normal management? and what sort of price does it go at?

only thinking out loud at the moment as the escort has drained my money buying it,but for future mods thought it maybe worth a go?

for you as the owner/driver - nothing much.

the pectel stuff was developed to protect tuners' profits. before it came along, if you had a chipped cossie with std ecu, you could copy the chip and sell it on to anyone else with a std ecu.

what pectel did was basically scramble the contents of the chip so that it would not work with a normal ecu, and you had to plug it in to a pectel babyboard to unscramble it. therefore, the tuner could ensure that they only sold a board with a chip.

in doing that, they also reverse engineered the code within the chip and added extra features like the data stream to send to a pectel monitor so you could display what the ecu was seeing from the sensors etc. also ALS etc. and of course they developed software to link into it to effectively live map.

but all of that can be done without using the pectel system these days

Nick,
Think he means a Pectel ECU (T2 or T6) compared to the OE Weber Marelli stuff .

I'd agree with Mike! Think Neils been on the pop this morning!

Ps Neil, can o worms! Some will say the P8 can do most of what the T series ECU's can do, others vice versa

if it aint broke dont fix it!

no point going t2 or t6 unless your engine demands it, and 99% of engine's dont!
