First time I drove one was at work. I had no clue what it was, didn't know it was a hybrid. I turned it on and nother happened. No noise, nothing. I tried again, nothing. I had it in gear but clutch down, and I was like "WTF?" so, thinking it wasn't running I took my foot off the clutch and it lept forward I was like

interesting but they don't have a clutch they have a fully automatic constant variable transmission the give a way is the fact they only have two pedalsthe engine cannot be started by the driver or passenger for that matter
it is all controlled via the computer

Matt - certain it was a Prius... Probably more likely me having it "in gear" and taking foot off brake cos I didn't think it was "on"....

To be honest I'm not that bothered. Kinda wished I hadn't posted as there's always someone that has the need to be right and correct you....

Considering the car is made of materials that have a half life that's not far off uranium, it's a joke that it can be considered green in any respect.
That you have to pay only £15 to drive it around is a joke, we should all give toyota £15 to stop them polluting the planet

Last edited by frog; 15-05-2008 at 09:47 PM. Reason: Got the tax wrong, it was £15, not £55 !!!

so you bought this car without even knowing the tax was going to only be £15 a year, surely that is one of there major selling points when you went to buy it?

Matt sounds like the honda insite? hybrid, the magnordrive doesnt engage untll the clutch is released, it starts the engine of sorts so you get best fuel econnomy, as when your at the lights you put your foot on the clutch and the engine cuts, it is also a magordrive assisted engine, so it can run with no engine at all, really the 900cc's are just charging the batterys.
fuck!! i cant be bothered to think about it anymore, goodnite.

left home down hill 57 mpg 198 miles from home now, it will be up hill all the way back so not going home lol.
you have to drive carefully to get 50 mpg , 40 -45 if you drive agressively but whats the point it's a poous so just drive like miss daisey .No doubt if i drove the evo extremely frugily i could get late 30's but thats not late 50's,
20mpg evo and have fun 38 driving like your gran
or 40 driving the poous like a dick or 57 driving it like your gran ,no fun in driving the poous like the evo.The poous is just my comuter I can see no fun or point in comuting in my evo bar heavy fuel bills and upping it's milegae it has only done 7k I only bought the poous as I no longer wish to pay the gordon brown appreciation club's membership fees
ie fuel duty fuel vat and road tax.

toyota recycle the car the batteries aren't that big and can also be recycled they warrenty the batteries for 8 years or 100k miles infact the whole car how many batteries would a normal car use in 8 years.the devolopment of any new technology to save the planet creates huge damage to the enviroment the only way is to get a spear and live in a mud hut .lol
The 15 quid road tax is because it is 104 emmissions, it appears merc are also devoloping /producing petrol hybrids the poous is just the most famous one as it was first honda have been making one too for years, these major manufacturers must think it is the way to go in the US market anyway
