Default Removed Diff... any maintenance/checks?

gonna be putting a 2nd hand diff in mine soon to replace mine with a tired LSD

are there any checks or service type things i can easily do to the diff whilst it's out to make sure i dont put in another duff one? even if its just taking the cover off and posting piccies on here for others to look at... lol

obv. i'd replace the diff oil whilst it's out...

also this diff is currently in another car... can i check it whilst it's on that car? maybe try a few launches to check it spins both wheels? thing is it's in an XR4x4 so its not really got the power to spin the wheels easily... lol

As long as it doesn't whine it should be fine Jim, just make sure when it's on yours all the shaft bolts are tight etc and the cv boots are in good nick.

yeah but my current one doesn't whine and its still beyond it's best

prob with mine at the moment is that more often than not it'll spin just 1 wheel instead of spinning both...

its feels like it's an open diff (but its not, it's an LSD)

If ya check the other for the same problem it should eliminate it then?? I thikn if you jack the car up, put it in gear then tr and break a wheel free from the drive direction it should indicate if it's knackered. I think this will work, someone will no doubt correct me if it doesn't like
