this is the devistation that greeted jacko this morning when he turned up this morning 3 of my mondeo's in the locked yard had been stripped of nearly everything metal that bolted on,doors bootlids bonnets the red and blue one were spares cars but the aubergene one was a running car a v6 ghia x, this will now have to be scrapped aswell, jacko also lost a zetec engine he had just bought for an rst and also a diesel engine he was about to put in his dads van, he checked out the local scrap dealers and came up with nothing..
Just glad the unit itself is more secure, would be unthinkable if they got in there..

We have had terrible problems with thefts from our 2 main sites. Over 10k worth of tools/small plant and 5k in materials but the twats caused thousands more worth in damage to steal the copper wiring/piping from a block of houses we were completing and the remedial repairwork meant we got caught with penalties for late completion
The really annoying thing is when they do catch these bastards they nearly ALWAYS get a slapped wrist/community service rather than what they deserve - 6 months of being ass raped in clink!!!!

This type of thing is going to happen more and more, the price of scrap is through the roof and the scrap yards paying out just turn a blind eye and stright in the crusher.

CCTV would not really help, you would just have a video of about 8 pikeys removing the parts, the Police would do foook all as they wont have nothing to do with them as they are shit scared.

Scum are evn nicking man hole covers from the roads now as they weigh in for quite a bit .

This problem is only going to get worse as the scrap metal prices keep going up

Twice a month or so we have an organised operation where we target scrap waggons just as they are about to weigh in. We lock up rather a lot of em cos there is no way they have just found the scrap on the side of the road. Our difficulty comes when we cannot ID where the stuff came from. A charge of theft by finding does not really do much to deter em.

Don't get off Scott free though cos we normally seize their vans for no insurance, then get the local authority involved re waste licence, then we also make sure we have the DWP (dept works & pensions) think of them as the DSS who make sure the scumbags lose part of their benfit. Always makes me smile the look on the their faces when they realise they are gonna lose money. We also get the inland revenue involved who have claimed back tax of some of em as well.

We also get VOSA down who examine the flatbeds, most are not roadworthy so they are prohibited from driving until they fix em.

Doesn't help 'the youth' much I know that, just wanted to explain that the problem is not being ignored thats all.

Anyone got an idea how much in scrap we are talking? IE - was is all that effort for Ł100 split between them or would it be worth much more? Hope I don't drive over an open man hole due to the cover being stolen! That would be utter shit news.

I used to be scared they'd tow away my old car during the night, given that it looked like it had been stolen and abandoned before.
