hi all,

i was talking to a friend at work the other day about valve seats, we got onto talking about the fact that more angles are usually better for air flow, but then we got onto talking about seats with a radius, rather than specific angles. here is my excellent diagram (with help from MS paint) to show you all what i'm talking about:




now, i want to know if a radius on a seat would work better than a 3 or 5 angle seat in terms of airflow. i've never seen seats with a radius, but maybe some of you have?

your thoughts please people...

 

might well work, as its known that air speeds up over a convex surface (in the way you would be talking here)

but dunno how they would get the edges of the valves cut to exactly match the seat.
