Any 2.9 Xr4x4 experts on here?
Hi all
I am after a bit of info on the 2.9 Xr4x4 running gear and hopefully someone here will know.
I went and viewed a kit car today which i may buy,and it is fitted with the running gear from a 2.9 Xr4x4.
My question is...Is this the same gearbox, crossmember, axles and driveshafts as a 4x4 cosworth???
I am thinking of buying it with the idea of transplanting a cosworth engine into it,which should be easy if the above parts are the same on both models.
Any help much appreciated.
regards mark

you would need the gearbox out of the cossie as well as the engine cos the bellhousing pattern is different on the v6. think front and rear diffs should do but they are slightly shorter ratios than cossie ones.

that's a cossie box
you'll also need to get hold of a cossie 4wd sump as well as they are different to the V6 versions
speedshack had one just today up for Ł25
everything else you can use the same stuff for, only the 2.0 dohc sierra's came with the 3.92 diffs front and rear

I take it that the internals on the gearbox are the same and they use the same mount, and just use a different bellhousing pattern.
