It's cheaper to get it covered. I only ever wanted one tattoo on the back of my neck which I did, got my name done in Chinese symbols, was over the moon and swore I was never getting another.
About three weeks later my mate got his own kit, got me drunk ( along with himself ) and provoked me into letting him tattoo me. He done this rediculous tribal piece on my inner forearm, I priced getting it lasered off and was shocked!
Now I'm getting a proper half sleeve done with Chinese dragons, which will cover the tribal. The work I'm getting done is like a proper picture put on my arm in black with loads of shading, so plenty of work for my tattooist and it will still cost around £400 cheaper than getting it lasered.

Sarah - the first sign of independance huh and we do stupid things!
Alloy - to have mine removed it will be so much more exspensive than having another one over the top! so i can see your logic in getting a cover up done!
C4lly - well... we cant all be retards can we?

I've got a mate who did some tattoos on himself (silly boy) and he had them removed not long ago. Where they were was very red after he had them lazered or whatever they do, doesn't sound a nice experience and I think they did it over several sessions. I nearly had one done but then thought better of it, I'll just stick with the ear stud I think.

i would go for the cover up! some can look amazin if you had it removed you would always see the scar/mark and would be just as bad as having the tattoo there..

My uncle burned the tit's off his nude woman tattoo for a score quid! Now that's stupid.
Maria, my friends mum got a small tattoo lasered off her arm a few years back, the scar it left her is barely noticable, infact, I think if she wasn't such a sunbed queen you probably wouldn't see it. She did say it was painful though, she reckoned it was for or five times greater than the pain of having the tattoo in the first place. It was through her that actually put me off having mine lasered off, that and the fact its insanely expensive. I suppose my tattoo being so small ( around three inches in length and an inch in width ) and badly coloured also helped me make my decission of a cover up too.
Ultimately, the choice is yours, all you're going to get on here is people's personal preferrence of what they'd have done.
If it is a small tattoo and in a descrete position, you're not bothered about cost's and willing to stick a bit of pain, then go for laser treatment. It is very expensive, but that can be paid in installments. I'd only go for it if you're dead sure you want it off as there is the possibility of being left with a nasty scar.
If you're a tight arse like myself, go for a cover up. Theres some class and quality pieces out there and it's going to far outweigh the cost of laser removal, plus it won't hurt as much.

Alloy - i have founf the design style i would want if i got it covered up... very feminine and pretty!
The one i currently have is of barb wire going round the top of my arm... yes i know i know i know cue all the pammy jokes...... and then when i was 20 i had some flowers and vines intertwined with it to make it look a little prettier..... which it did.... for about a year!
I need to see some 'real' results i guess if you know what i mean?

No i'll have to have some dark purples in there, and then some bright Turquoises too i think!!!!
I love the idea of getting it done, but i also love the idea of not having anything there at all!

I think that is very cool Maria and if you're happy with that then go for it, remember it's your arm and that if you like it, who cares what everyone else think's? You get tattoo's to please yourself, don't you?
I'm persoanlly into the whole Chinese theme with tattoo's and people think I'm nut's! It can be so dodgy getting English writting converted to Chinese symbols, I took a risk in getting mine done without having them checked, but it turned out okay and they did spell Gareth fortunately! I did take some grief at the start though, had all the 'beef curry fried rice jokes' and even had 'does that spell Chlamydia in Chinese?' - I'm sure you'll remember my Muppet Room topic lol?
Now I'm having a half sleeve done with Chinese dragons and a small bare line running the length of my lower arm, that space will be filled with nine ( the number is masculine and lucky in China with it being the highest single digit number ) people's names in Chinese symbols who is important to me - the symbols have been researched and checked this time too!
I'm also getting a small Yin Yang with two Koi fish swimming around it tattooed onto my stomach to the left just below my belly button, the fish will be complete with 'running water' as this also has meaning, and I guess thats why I like all the Chinese stuff, it all has meaning and tradition.
Shit, rambling on there a bit, I guess what I'm saying is get the tattoo regardless of what people think. In my opinion though it looks good.

Twellsie - they are gonna kind of blend my current one in with that new one.... kind of 'intertwine' it as opposed to cover it up!
ANd i must admit i have seen some tattoos on girls which i think are AMAZING!!!
hmmmmm got some tough decisions to make!

I got a flower on my shoulder i hate had it done when i was 16 Would love it removed - i did look into having it covered when i had my last one done but so hard with a shoulder to decide what i would have instead and i enquired before and you can not have pale / white colour's so it would have to be something dark which i don't really wanna do on my shoulder lol
