Default Escort si problems

I have bought a 3 door si for the bird as a runaround,as i obviously want her in a ford, but when the passenger window gets 3/4 of the way up, the front gets stuck and the back carrys on going, and now the drivers one is having a go at it aswell. Whats the problem?
Also the boot release button is temperamental,oh and the carpets are wet in the footwells, but not up the sides .
Any ideas on the above?

take the door panel off and re align the window glass on the two screws, sounds like the glass has just dropped

While the door panel is off check the membrane behind it (grey polystyrene sheet effort). If it's not fixed to the door it will let water into the car (It runs down the sides and pools at the bottom hence why the sides appear dry) It's very common, and all you need is a bit of duck tape and secure the membrane to the door card.

Sometimes the pollen filter can leak IIRC, but check the doors first.
