Default Puma's - Whats the deal with'em??

As above really.

The better half has FINALLY decided to go for one of these, but i'm unsure on the spec?

Engine sizes, bhp, models, mpg etc...

Anyone help with some info?

ok i used ot have one of these... the 1.7 zetec s, bhp on mine i believe was about 134... nippy little cars it was by far the best out of all my cars, i mean the most fun!! it gripped corners like it was on rails, the engines made by yamaha so the revs are higher like a motorbike and when u put your foot down it sounds the balls

Hello mate!

They're not bad little motors mate. My birds got one. It's a little uncomfortable for me when I'm driving on long journeys (but as you know I'm a bit of a big fella) and the back is quite clostrophobic (sp!) if your quite tall. But it will be fine for you and all of her girly mates!

Engine wise, they come in either 1.4 or 1.7. The bird has the 1.7 and it is quite pokey! It's no slouch and it handles pretty well too.

She will not be dissapointed with it mate!

ALL Zetec SE engines were designed by Yamaha! 1.25/1.4/1.6 and 1.7 although the 1.7 has VCT which gives it some poke.

Pumas handle great, ususla Ford interior, rear space and vision is poor and avoid high mileage on the 1.7 at it can get a bit rattley.

Pumas are available in 1.4 1.6 and 1.7 AFAIK 90ps/102ps/125ps.

There is a 165ps Racing Puma wich is wider, has better suspension, brakes and interior and can be picked up around Ł10k.

oh wow so it did have a yamaha engine?? se ei thought i was going mad! lol

mine had high mileage, i did have ot have a bit of work done to it, but i had a fair bit of money then so wanted to replace things that perhaps didnt NEED replacing but would have in the near future, but i must say it didnt cost even a quarter as much as what my golf would have had i had all the same replaced...

i really really enjoyed the car, it was fun, i used ot take it down for a thrash about in an empty abandoned car park, it cornered beautifully, i really really regret ever selling it

You can pick up rattly cars for next to no money as people put in the wrong oil, bottom end bearings fook up ford say it needs a new engine as they don't sell any internal parts seperatly so people sell it! - I know of three fiestas this has happened to, one bloke sold his 40k mileage 1.25 t plate fiesta for Ł350 i think it was! - Ł40 for new bearings at the motor factors and away you go!!

the 1.7 one is great fun. VCT does make it sound very deep and mellow, and brings a good power impression.
The 1.6 is not that bad too, but really avoid the 1.4 one, really lacks BHPs.

Right don't laugh at me I am learning about a new car!!!!!!

With the Fiesta ZS the specs changed over the few years they were built (the early ZS and that let ones)

Now what's the difference between the Puma's / late and earlier ones?

If you can understand this.
