Default Should there be an oil seal here :O

just taken the turbo back off due it leaking oil to find this



i cant seam to see an oil seal on this or the other end? the turbo is fine apart from it leaking oil lol can you just buy that one seal or do i need to buy a full rebuild kit?something like this maybe?

Full kit - there should be a "piston ring" style seal on either end of the shaft, then the usual thrust collar, phospher bronze bearings etc etc

looks a bit choked up ? does that also need replacing and where the hell is the other seal! :O

Only way to tell if the existing seal at the turbine end is damaged or missing (ie, forgotten to be put on) is to take the unit to bits and investigate.

everywhere else looks fine on the turbo just litrally around where they join togther it was leaking alot.



the minor rebuild kits on flebay etc do they just come with a rubber seal to go inplace of the 2 halfs to seal it?

there is no seal between the turbo and exhaust housing... it'll be leaking out of the core itself somewhere. if you don't understand turbos, please don't take it apart yourself... they're precision engineered things and spin at over 100,000 rpm, so any imbalance can be a major catastrophe!

thats exactley why i dont want to take anything else off lol off for a rebuild then i take it ?
