Default FAO Stu/ MSD Boys Re: Evo Chips

Guys,

Do you do an evo chip for the BMW 540i 1993 (M60 engine) ?

I had a look on the website but it only listed the newer M62 as found in the E39 and E34 chips stopped at the 535i.

If available what sort of gains are to be had ?

Also, who would be your nearest dealer to South London to install if available ?

Cheers
Paul

as you have found by doing a chip search, your particular model is not listed (although could it not be the same as the 4.0 version listed for the E39?), but we'll wait and see what stu can confirm

to find your nearest dealer, just follow the link on the evolutionchips.com website

http://www.evolutionchips.com/dealer2.html

there isn't one particularly close, but some are mobile like me, so would happily come to your home or place of work

The E39 4.0 is actually a 4.4 (M62 motor with vanos) as opposed to the older M60.

There's a couple of dealers in/ around London which I'd no problem getting to, it just if a chip dosen't yet exist, I presume I'd have to go up to MSD to get it sorted ?

not necessarily - it's rarely an actual chip these days anyway. more often than not the map is written into the ecu via the diagnostic port rather than having to remove the ecu and plug in a chip.

it may be the case that stu can send a file to a dealer - let's wait and see what he says.

its a 1993 BMW - 3 years before they made flashable ecu's, so it'll be a replacement chip. One should be available.
