Default Well thats me FUBAR for Germany :(

Mentioned to my 3dr that i want to take her to germany in 2 weeks as a place has come and and the fucking thing has spat its dummy out.

started making a funny noise, so on the process of elimination to find the odd whurring noise, i took off the aux belts to elliminate alterantor, water pump and power steering pump bearings, noise was still there, next was dizzy blank drive, as the belt tensioner was new i thought i would try this.

Soooooooo.

pulled this blank out, and out came the oil drive shaft

and the circlip has moved aswell.

So im pretty sure its either engine out or front end completely off to get the sump off.

Really feel like giving up.

Ouch, you've gone this far mate so go all the way and see it through. I must admit, I was quite surprised when I read you bought yet another one. I hope it ends up well and you don't throw your wallet too far into it

the annoying thing is, it was 99% finished and ready for the summer and the ring trip, now this.

maybe its trying to tell me something.

Dont know if i can be arsed to do it myself, might just give it to tremona and get them to sort it and finish the final bits on the car, and just foot the bill

pulled the dizzy oil drive blank out, and the 6mm hex shaft was still stuck in the blank (where is should still be stick in the block)

Look down the oil drive hole, and could see the circlip still in there but not sitting correctly.

make any sense?

martin cheers for the kind offer, but by the time i get it to you and pay you to do it it would stand me at quite a bit of cash for a circlip

going to try to get the clip out tomorrow, if that fails its either going to tremona or i'll be taking the engine out or front end off.

or left in the garage and forgotten about.

ryan cant see the issue TBH

call AA, tell them the problem, you get them to "relay" it to martin whos labour rates is cheeper than the labour rate of Kwick Fit,,,,,, he sorts it out in 4 hours.... job done and you drive back

its taken me a week to get the effort in me to fit a amp live cable,,,, aint even bothered to fit the RCA's yet

sometimes its better to pay !

Ok, so once together it dosnt serve a purpose, only when you remove the dizzy its to keep the hex in position.

You will not get the clip out the top, Just center and push hex shaft back in its as easy as that.

yeah if someone could measure it, i may be able to measure the block with a drill bit to see the diametre to see if its possible to extract it out the top somehow.

well thats fucked that idea idea then.

well i guess if i can snap or bend the circlip in situ, with some sort of very long nosed snips, its either engine out job or complete front running gear off to drop the sump.

Can you not just support the engine from the top, then take the sub frame off to get to the sump Ryan?

mark, what bending the clip in situ? could you explain either on here, or via pm, seriously doing my nut in, if its doable somehow i'll go out there now and start doing it. proving i have the tools (not likely) anyone fancy a drive ? tea and biscuits.

also another suggestion was somehow try relocating the circlip in the locating ring and then try pushing the hex shaft back through the circlip, but i "think" the clips are concaved which only allows it to be put on in one direction? maybe wrong.

You have just descibed what I was saying, The clip is very likely to be loose on the shaft and most likely slip back in it lined up correctly, As I said I have just done the same last week with no problems.
