i went for a scoobie as there best value for money and was more fun to drive than a M3 that i was ACTUALLY looking for

get a 98/99 one or newer and NOT a V3 one as you cant chip the ecu so need a new ecu to make quicker !

seriously a scoobie sti will cost fuck all, i paied 4500 for mine from a dealer

what and where did you drive it, i went round the ring in a track prepared E30 M3 and that was VERY well on track and loved it,,, though was rather expensive but was a quick lap

i test drove a e36 evo AND normal and both on the road was boring tbh, went very fast but no " buzz "

i bought the first scoobie i test drove,,,,, never bothered driving another due to the fun on the test drive

Go for an e36 m3 if you want to enjoy yourself, take it easy and build your confidence up.

Take it you broke the cossie ben?
Shame was a lovely car, ahh well, onward and upward, use the money for another house!

mate im a SHITE driver but the scoobie helps me hide that,,,, the test drive i was going round bends on a "private" road that was quite tight at 80 to 120ish,,,,,,, the guy who owns the dealership was never below a ton !!!

seriously it reminded me of the first time i went out in a cossie,,,,,, the childish grin but this time its a twisty road and not the M11

Ginge, Was a mates from base, drove it about 40 miles?! Was a 3.0 E36, dunno if thats the Evo sort?

For an everyday car, I liked it. But then we all have different driving styles....

radders depends what you want fromm a car, personally for high speed stuff the scoobie is SHITE.... seems to struggle at 125/130ish to get higher compared to the M3,, but for childish driving the impreza is better,,,,,, being for the ring apart from the drive there and back i would say theres more fun in a impreza with 65k miles on the clock than a 130k miles M3

each to there own though,, i was VERY dissapointed though as ive always wanted a M3 and was nothing like the vids of people doing donuts ect seem to show when you drive them on the road

Ideally i would like an EVO 8 up, but untill i sell the Audi i cant afford it and the mrs dont like the look of EVO's, focus ST's or Subarus

for the age and reliability side of things i am leaning towards a Subaru

Ginge, why is there a need to drive at over 130 on UK roads?

I get more fun at pissing about in my Pulsar and my old mini's going from speeds of 40 to 80mph...

Motorway high speed is shit, no fun and not worth the risk, all because you can say " i done xxx speed the other day down the M40" In the pub or what ever...

if it's just for the 'ring trip, reduce the budget to a grand and look for something like a mk2 golf gti, peugeot 306 gti or something

Celica GT4 is another good option if you want a reliable 4wd car for sensible money.

M3 unless you're scared of rwd, like someone here seems to be
You know you can hammer it to the ring, round the ring, and home, and it'll be fine.
Rwd waiting to bite is fun, if you're male, if not get a 4x4 that doesn't require you to know how to drive.

m3 e36 feels slow but if you rev the nuts of it and fit a carbon fibre filter it sound like you are going to break the sound barrier!!

rwd is the only way to go if you want to be a better driver imo, ring might not be the best place to start the learning curve tho.lol

i say scoob or evo

The other advantage of an m3, is at least you will find parts for it locally, plus plenty of people who know how to fix it.
