We are sailing from Hull at 9pm On the 9th, so will be at the hotel for lunch on the 10th. Be good to catch up pal, maybe you could come out and give me a little tuition on the circuit in my M5.

It will be YOU teaching me how to drive the Ring mate! You are more than welcome to take the Porsche out for a blast whilst we are there

P.S I already know all your plans mate.... The two 'organ grinders' have been chatting already this morning!

Where does your Ferry come into? I am currently thinking of getting the train and meeting up with you. Convoy is best bit for me!

Damn women!

We are sailing Hull To Rotterdam. Why not drive up to Hull and come across with Us? We can take in a movie, a meal and some beer on the overnight Ferry, then convoy Belgium to Germany all together. Or even come stay at ours the night/week before, although that of course is far more driving...

So that we're there in plenty of time for the Saturday .

We're taking a leisurely drive there on the Friday, to get there for tea time, so that we have some "chillin'" time . Otherwise it is get up at Stupid O-clock on Saturday morning - no thanks .

Definitely NO 145mph inside overtakes for me this year, the last 62 miles to the ferry just vanished in a high speed blur

Saffy aint far off,we`ll see how she goes down to The Pod on Sunday and providing all is well it`ll just need a few minor cosmetic bits and a polish

Roll on the 9th May

lee, pop down the shops and buy forza motorsport 2. it's got the best nurburgring track on it out of any game i've played. with the PGR games you don't really recognise the corners that well

Oh no doubt it will be a lastminute.com with me but i defo wont be doing 140plus with Diva glued to the bumper for 60odd miles. 100mph using the hard shoulder as a 4th lane is silly.

We should have been banned that day.

Nope it's a 360-only game

But agreed, the 'Ring is very good on there. As per all games, the greatest weakness is it really doesn't give you a great idea of how vast some of the gradients etc are at the 'Ring, but it's the closest I've found so far

Agreed, in my opinion it can give you false confidence aswell......the ony way to learn it is to get on it and drive it IMHO......

You've got to remember it's only a game, and don't go giving it large on the real thing just because you can do a lap in 7 minutes on the game! But it's a good starting point for learning the corners and and knowing where you can really give it some, and where you might just have to be a little more cautious

I Agree.

Last year was my first year and didn't know the track at all. Did a few laps but had no confidence when you was approaching the brow of a hill? Didn't know if there was a corner or continues straight on?

Went out with Shorty (who couldn't drive at the time) who has just played the game and it made a massive difference. He was telling me when corners were coming up etc.

I'd imagine that it wont give you the feel of the bumps and troughs of the track but it must help a newbie or refresh a few's memory?

But as Nicole said the best way is to get out there and experience the track in person!

I found the games less than useless!

Others (mongo for example) found it very helpful.

I just love it there - so so much fun

obviously i think it would be stupid to try and learn the track froma computer game, but what it does do (when mixed with real ife videos anda bit of exerience of the track) is help you learn the sequence of corners. that is very useful as it removed the "shit, whats coming up" element and lets you concentrate on driving.

best thing me and chip found was driving the track REALLY slow in the evening with nobody about, and looking for the turn in markers on the track, REALLY helps learn some of the lines, i'm definately doing some proper slow laps again this year

One of the things I'm looking forward to the most:

Top social atmosphere with all the gang again

May even defile the museum exhibits again as well

And won't do this to the jeep at the Offroad centre again, as it cost too much money to fix:

Bring it on!!

that's the best attitude to have just drive to what you know and can see and what you feel that you and the car are capable of. just like you would on the road. most important is to just enjoy the whole trip and the atmosphere and everything (including the food )

damn i wish i was going but have other things on instead. i'll be doing my first bike trackday
