Default Another "What Car?" Thread...

Need something reliable enough to do 300miles per week whilst return near 40mpg on the motorway.

Can be petrol or derv
must be alright looking, nice inside etc.
Got about 3k to spend, give a bit more for the right car.

So far ive got in my head;
306 TD
A4 Diesel
Passat/Bora/Golf of sorts

(Doesnt have to be diesel)
Hit me with your suggestions.

Octavia TDi?

Either 90bhp or 110bhp, will do well over 40mpg! and be cheaper than the golf equivalent !

Transit Connect. Economical enough and handy van space too.

Seen a couple come up for around Ł3.5k locally.

Don't really fancy a mondy as they dont look at all sporty really.

So far im taken by the Audi or VW options, Passat/A4/Golf are all top of the list but after a quick look, i wont be getting a decent one for the budget i have. All the nice diesel golfs without moon miles are still holding 5k give or take.

Another S2 and a Ł100 diesel 106 it is then

Keep the suggestions coming though

Skoda Octavia VRS. Im not biased honest, but if your thinking of Passat Bora and Golf then id say go for the skoda, theyre slightly cheaper and just a good a car with the same engine, and not quite as common with much better looks!

Weve just got ours and tbh they are fantastic to drive

we paid just over 2k for ours with high mileage but it was up for Ł2895 the bloke needed shot as had put deposit down on new car, think you will get a decent one with not too many miles for 3k though

My Golf is brilliant, it's the GT TDi version 6 speed which averages 55MPG when I use it on the motorways. If it's B roads it averages about 49MPG
