Almost delivery mileage RS500 / Sapphire Cosworth
Somthing almost unbelievable happened today.
Ive been hunting for a 3dr Sierra Cosworth for a couple of months. Been to see a few, not much good apart from a 4x4 converted one off here which was OK but not quite what Im after.
Now, as if by magic, Ive just got off the phone to my grandad who has just told me about a mate of his (from his working days) that has got a Sierra Cosworth sitting in his garage, he has had it from new, its an E reg and has done less than 1000 miles. Now (you know what old people are like!) Ive asked him if its a 3 door or a Sapphire, and he doesnt know....being an E reg, it could be a Sapphire or an RS500.
He apparently had it as a retirement present from Grays of Guildford.......
Supposing it is an RS500 I will be keeping it, but if its a Sapphire I will probably sell it.
Im now itching to get down there and see!
Will keep you posted......out of interest what would you guys value a 1987 Sapphire Cosworth with <1000 miles at? And for that matter what about if its the unthinkable....an RS500?
Also, is there a list of RS500 available to view?

If it's a Saff there will deffo be a limit to what people will pay whatever the mileage,if it's a late registered 3 door not so much and you could get a very good price for it.
If it's a 500, well name your price,
whatever, if the price is right snap it up and keep it mate

No, Ive had a couple of these off my grandad before. He gets nattering to some of his old mates, who have got mates with this car, that car etc.....and tells them 'ooo my grandson would be interested in that'
Ive had a couple of nice ones from him - an original XJ6 Jag with 70k on it 1 owner, and also a timewarp Isuzu Piazza Turbo 13k......and now this.
Its just unbeliveable how I am currently searching for a 3dr Sierra Cosworth, and he rings me up to tell me hes stumbled across this Sierra....
I will keep you posted.......

Yeah its very low mileage but won't EVERYTHING need replacing if its sat there for 20 years? Nice find though! If it is a 500 and the guy doesn't know what he's got, start at about Ł1k. Its only an old sierra............

Cant go wrong here no matter what model it is if its done less than 1000mls and been stored inside all that time !!!!
If its a 3dr your talking being worth somewhere between 15 - 20k,
If its a 500 am sure you could double that.
I would buy it and keep it as an investment as just think what something like this would be worth in 10 years time !!! A really good one these days is very hard to find and in 10 years time the values of them will have gone mental i can almost guarantee. % or so years ago a good MK2 RS 2000 or Mexico escort could have been had for 5k, you need around 8-10k now to find one in similar condition !!!
Keep us posted about this mate and get some pics !!!
Good luck.
