I thought if there was no lines you couldn't be done. Then I was told they can go to the scene with a tape measure and measure from marking to marking. I'm unsure.

If it's a regular Gatso then they can't get you from the front. The only ones (in common usage) that can get you from the front are the Truvelo cameras (round lenses, often blue) but they're mainly put on your side of the road, so I wouldn't worry.

I think there has only been one inncident where a person has been prosecuted driving towards a Gatso, and thats because he was hanging out of the window with his middle finger up. He never got prosecuted for speeding, i think it was driving without undue care and attention. twat.

has happened a few times to me, though i wasnt speeding. one even went of on "my side of the road" when i was doing 23mph. nothing ever came of them.

But it does make you wonder how reliable/accurate these things are

To the above people that have had the camera on oppisite side of the road flashed at you, was there traffic on that side of the road?
I only ask this as when traveling towards a gatso you do not trigger the correct arming/activating seqence and also the cameras are not allowed to just flash at on comming traffic due to risk of causing an accident by momentally dazzleing the driver.
though the lines are usually painted on both sides to make you think it can get you and there fore slow down

i've been flashed when going the wrong way on a quiet road.
i've never heard anything about it.
i also got flashed by one and i had to literally pull over for a couple of mins cause it distorted my vision, possibly due to it being pitch dark.
