I have a 86 DP Racing FIREBIRD FREESTYLER, i also have in my possesion some brand new never been used and still got the halfords stickers on Skyway Tuff 11's from 1987 that i found in the loft along with some old bmx stuff.
i would like to find a BMX website that other people with a DP Firebird use,
i used to have these bikes when i was a lad so i thought i deserved another.

i have just had a peep on that site and it looks good, is there any old uk bmx forums where the DP firebird or Delta 11 are talked about??

Those old bikes are cool but would snap in a second if u did anything serious on them.

New Skool bikes are far better IMO

do you mean anything serious on them now???
i was 6ft when i was 15 and i used to hammer my bmx's i never broke a skyway only a rear hub,so i fitted a coaster brake and that did the trick, i never knackered a frame or forks too.
don't know about some of the other american frames etc,but i never knew of a DP falling to bits.
new school maybe better but 80's freestylers look a million times better....

yeah i mean now mate, ie a 25 year old jumping dirt jumps or going down rails and stuff.

paper thin drop outs wouldnt last a second on a rail. plus the axles would bend/snap.

old bikes arent my thing but thats just me..

He's right mate, I ride with a lot of old skool riders and not 1 of them rides an old skool bike on the ramps.... they're just for show or cruising about on...

gotta agree with him, i snapped the downtube on my dp firebird mid air on a midi ramp, saw a haro sport snap clean in two, my mates skyway ta was rewelded atleast 8 times but he was the first person in the uk to do backflips and the frame took alot of abuse the 80's bikes were built for 80's style of riding and just cant take the abuse of 90's and 00's style of riding as the type of tricks changed massively from the 80's to the 90's just got to watch hoffman in aggroman or headfirst and see all the haros he killed at one point he was going through a bike a day!!!!!

as for 80's bikes looking better i gotta disagree i do like 80's bikes but i prefer 90's bikes hence why i have my s&m holmes but im biased cause i started to ride in the early 90's

I had these for a while and was going to restore them but I lost interest and sold them off. 86 Haro Masters.

my current bike is an 07 Stolen Heater black/mint green. I rode alot last year and did a trick and busted my arse big time LOL. I was in pain for 2 months (being old SUCKS!) Once it gets warmer out and I have time I'll be back on it. These are old pics since I've put the Mint Green forks on and the Odyssey Twisted PC pedals on.

80's bikes are awesome for what they were, I love them but no way are they going to stand up to the abuse now. You have to give them respect though.

anyone remember a FAZE 7 STREETSTYLER from about 1985, the frame i have appears to have been originaly green powdercoated.

went to wh smiths yesterday and for the first time in 18 years picked up a bmx magazine, there was 2 of them printed on funny paper, i expected to see some old school stuff for salefor my 80's survivor resto's i'm doing but it was all new stuff.
i couldn't believe some of the prices for new frames and wheels, they made some of the quality 80'S bikes that are rebuilt using NOS or good condition survivors look like bargains

Fastmaul, iirc Torker built the first Haro Masters, i used to use green Haro Freestyle tyres on orange Skyways, there wasn't ever much Haro stuff for sale around my way

Anyone into flatland?

I am looking to get back into BMXing now, but none of this gayer "just a back brake" shite, I want a light, but strong frame for throwing about, but with all the bells and whistles (UFO, U brakes, fat forks etc etc)

Style cats (just trying to find a full copy)
Last resort
S&M BMX Inferno
Wheelies by mark Eaton

Goota love a bit of street, vert and flatland.

Hopefully going to grab a new bike this weekend.

Thing is, if its an older bike with 10mm axels, I am assuming the 14mm stuff cannot be used?
