turbo converted cars
does anybody have a turbo converted car declared on the log book? just wondering how many people do this and how many dont.
if you do (ideally a mk4 escort hard top or cabby) would you mind pm'ing me the reg as i really need to do an insurance quote for a car i want but i dont want to drive it with dodgy insurance as the books not changed as yet.
cheer folks

Best thing I ever did. Not only have a saved 10k on buying a Focus RS, I have the benefit of having 1.4 tax and insurance costing a little less than £400 a year fully comp. Tax works on emissions, and as mine isn't a Focus RS, the DVLA gave it 1.4 tax and all paperwork are ligit with 2.0 Turbo stamped everywhere

how does that work then?
i want to buy a 1600 escort cab.. but its turbo converted so i want to change that so when i insure it ill give the reg and thats what the car is.. not having to tell them its a 1600 with a non registered turbo conversion in it.
cheers

My 2 rs turbo cabs were only fully declared to the insurance companys, cos they were still 1.6 so apart from notifying the dvla of the new engine numbers there wasn't much more to tell them (don't think they can tell from an engine number if it's a turbo or not?). The only way to get a proper quote is to ring up and speak to a person at a specialist insurers, try greenlight or adrian flux. they will ask by how much the power has been increased by and other extras like stainless exhaust, lowered suspension etc. They will probably require an engineers report too, so that they know the work is of a professional standard.

Just a thought but maybe try a insurer like tesco's cos when i was 20 with my first cab turbo, all mods declared (rolling roaded at 212bhp, 17's, magnex, turbo kit and interior, stereo, etc) i was insured for £550 with Barclays - then again that was in 2000!
