I does look amazing, but being a monocoque chassis - will this not have a detrimental effect on structural integrity, especially just being bonded on. For example - people usually replace or find shells with no sunroof hole to help the rigidity of the vehicle. I think the MSA rulebook stipulates about fitting a metal sunroof or replacing the roof with a metal non sunroof skin. I don't know what events you'll be using the car at, but you may fail scrutineering and not be allowed to run.

Its awesome!!

To answer a few questions above..

This a carbon skin and is fitted to the exiting roof skin either side of the roof rails. The roof is to be cut off loosing the sunroof surround but leaving a border of circa 20mm around all edges for the boding agent to do its stuff.

The skin then bonds underneath the windscreen rubber and also the roof strips so no visable edge is seen.. The car is fitted with a full weld in rollcage also. The central piece of roof on a fiesta has no strength whatsover and if pushed is very very flimsy....

This a full carbon skin there is no fibreglass used and the weight is amazing im yet to cut the roof out to weigh but im sure the weight will be greater than this carlos fandago carbon one...

***** 2.1 KG *****

Good stuff

I was going to ask about your cage, Looking forward to seeing this car Luke, is it at Central Day?

Possibly, but looking at the job that rollcage can do, that might go out the window?

Looking good, any more shots of the car?

Very nice. It's quite a simple shape, although large, so shouldn't be hugely expensive. It looks like the perfect mod for all us S2 owners who's roofs are less than perfect..

Bonding it to a Mk4 roof would be the hardest part, they don't have gullies like the fifi

I have not removed any of the integral parts of the roof other than the sunroof surround.

Il post up pics of the panel removed its literally 1.2mm thick steel sheet with a sunroof panel, all of the roofs structure remains. This is what the carbon bonds too..

The car has a weld in cage in case of the worst but as for structure i would not have even considered cutting it if structually it was altered in strength

Fair play that looks absolutely stunning on the car both from the outside as well as the inside

Now that i've seen the pics of it on the car, it has given me a very bad & expensive idea about doing this on my FRS

Cheers mate

Here is a few action shots through the stages

Almost tempted to leave the roof off

Following pics show the cutting and then with the roof placed on but not yet bonded...

It is all fixed on now and bonded just the front screen to re-fit now.
