Default New MotorBike Battery - Filling/Charging First Use

I wonder if anyone can help me here....

I've bought a motorbike battery off fleabay to get a bike going again that I'm gonna sell. The instructions I got tell me I have to fill it with battery acid then charge it blah blah.

I was under the impression you use De-Ionised water to fill batteries.

Anyway I went to a motor factors & they said I'd be hard pressed to find anywhere that sold battery acid as you need a license to do so.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me pls?

Is it not sealed? The one on my r6 is....

The old non maintainance free ones you used to have to topup with de-Ironised water!

New ones should come sealed and charged!

My 2 bike Batteries for my ZX6R came with a seperate set of tubes (6 or so, all joined together in a row) with liquid in them (think 95% this was acid), you basically removed a cover from the battery, flipped the tubes upside down and pressed them onto the top of the battery.

The tubes had foil covers on them, that punctured as they hit the top of the battery cells. They then drained down into the battery, sort of like you might imagine a lethal injection type thing to work on death row!

Then you charged the battery and away you go!

Was the battery in an OE box? Does it look like something is missing?

SiB.....no mate nothing was missing - it was advertised like this - I just thought I'd be able to grab a bottle of de-ionised water & away we go....how wrong I was! LOL

This is what I need I take it - the battery is the same manufacturer as the one I got.

Will nip to the bike shop next week.

Hmm, guess that bottle of stuff will do the job, be fucking careful with it though! How will you know how full to fill it?

This pic here shows the same make of battery again, but with the acid tubes I was on about just behind the battery:

Here's the ebay ad for it:

Give the big bottle a go though, looks like the right stuff inside, just don't drink it!!

Has to be filled with acid at SG 1.280 to start with, other wise it could kill it filling with de ionised water, at the very least it will shorten it's life.
