Default zetec coilpacks

a few people have used them to convert their cossies to run them through stus stuff etc, but on the zetecs there is a little grey box screwed to the side of them with a connector on it.

what the fook are they for, as i have never found out lol

and more importantly, are they needed?

not needed, its ment to reduce interference, take off and bin and dont worry about it

But since you've taken your to a slightly different level Dan, I'd advise you invest in a proper MSD Coilpack and leads. I think their only about Ł130 in total from Pumaspeed, Pumabuild etc.

Its a resistor that goes down to earth. I always use it.

COCHYN, arnt the coilpacks stu uses just STD zetec ones? sure look the same?

Doug, what does it connect to on the ECU then?

im using the S8 as you know, so would there be a specific output for it?

what does it do then, as it doesnt seem to be connected tot he coilpack itself... or is it lol?

Your fine without it Dan, mine is

MSD stands for "Multiple Spark Discharge", the company make them in the States. Their nothing to do with Motorsport Developments, although they probably sell them too.

Really good piece of kit IMO

Multiple spark discharge is not needed with road fuels, and was invented for road fuels, never yet seen any evidence that sparks occuring after the first spark has ignited the fuel does anything, why would it.
