Default anti lag...

who on here runs anti lag?and which turbo do yo use? im building up a big spec yb soon and want to see what parts i shall be needing. i want it to run around 500-550 bhp and must be able to cope with anti lag. to start i may even leave it at 450-480 bhp and see how it goes fom there.

also how do screamer pipes work?

people genrally use turbos that have maram shafts in them to cope with the higher temps, i believe they can be fitted in pretty much any turbo T34, T38, T4 etc.

screamer pipes are the bit of pipe that exits from an external wastegate

you dont have to have a marham shafted turbo to run anti lag but it is deffinately better to have one as you wouldnt want to run anti lag for long without one. as for 500 -550 bhp a rollerball bearing marham shafted t4 is a good one to go for speak to mike rainbird or a gt30 but that dont have marham shaft. and screamer pipes are just a pipe coming off the external wastegate, no reall advantage just sounds good in some peoples opinion

You'll also need an anti lag valve and throttle body.

and also sound like a bag of nails in other peoples opinion i saw a screamer on a jap crap motor, he spent a fortune on it, just sounded like the engine was knackered and the exhaust had a rusty hole in it!!

As for anti lag, its great, sounds good, looks good. But id say only get it if you really think you need it, i,e if u track the car, 1/4mile it etc. If its just on there for fun then, you will probalby end up using it more than you "should" and will need a new turbo much quicker.

if its for fast road driving, watch you dont make old biddies jump and fall over when you drive buy. (it has been known)

I run MSD anti lag on my T34 .63 Mar-M shaft turbo, you will need a T4 or equivelent for the power you talk of. Mike rainbird runs a T4 ALS turbo.

it will have to be roller bearing t4 as i dot like the way the standard t4 comes on boost so late.. yh its going to be a msd anti lag so more than likley mild. i will be using it for 1/4 mile eventuly.

Even really mild antilag is still agressive on the turbo.

Id go Mar-M if you can.

Its just a better grade of metal essentially mate.
Generally considered to be 1000 degrees C or more safe on the exhaust wheel side

the Mar -M will take around 200 deg more than a std shaft so better than std, I think a std shaft is good for abou 900 deg for so many hours i forget how long.

M K- your GT, how long you use it for at a time, Im pretty sure it wont last long on a track day style drive. Glad its keeping well on the road so far

R5FORD- you wont have any lag so it wont matter where the boost usually comes in, if driving in correct gears then progress should be Mmmmm swift!boost to limiter everytime- I cant wait to use mine on a run
