Default Ford Focus Speedo Problem!!!!

Have a 52 plate focus ghia. The problem is that now and again when driving, the speedo suddenly drops to 0.
Happens about 4 times on a 100 mile drive.Beginning to bug me as i don,t want to be going past a speed camera and my speedo,s reading 0.

Any ideas???

Speed sensor on the Gear Box, had the same problem on my 1.8Lx. The car would cut out & bump start itself.
They can be a shit to get out if the pin that holds them in doesn't come out clean.

Would check the speed sensor connection on the gearbox. Sounds like either that or the sensor itself could be dodgy.
