Default Help with Diamond cutted alloy

Can anyone advice on clear coating over bare alloy?

Thinking of getting some alloys diamond cut, but want to get them clear coated to prevent them going manky etc etc

Ive been told you need a special clear and you need to do it straight after cutting them, to stop the bare alloy getting contaminated??

Is this true? Have you experianced this??

Any help appreciated

My experience with diamond cut wheels is they need to be kept super super clean, especially during the winter months....even then there is a risk of corrosion to the cut face.

Most places will not offer any warranty on lacquered diamond cut rims...because they can oxidise so easily, but they do look the biz

karl, tbh mate if you are planning on using the car in the shit weather dont bother fitting them.run another set of painted rims.and i know you keep your car clean so my advise would be if you want them polished, have them mirror finished and dont laquer them.far better.plus you can always wet and dry them if they do get a bit of corrosion arriving.the laquered route will go shitty as soon as theres a stonechip and the water gets in. i ran polished rims for 4 years and removed them in october and fitted normal rims till april.

get a similar colour (ok not the same effect! but looks as good) try the colour used on E39 M5 wheels, i think its called Hyper Silver?

no hassle with corrosion then

or ignore me and continue looking for lacquered diamond cut
