Property is still a great place to invest if you do it right, if someone else is paying the mortgage then over 25 years you end up with a FREE house and all you've put down is a deposit, you cant argue with that IMHO, especially as towards the end of the term you'll be raking it in where the rent has gone up so much with inflation and the mortgage hasnt.
Whats your address mate?

Oh yeah ive said im a cash man and i keep my money in cars lol and i have 15k in a cossie. Although its not here at the mo. And then im gonna put my address on a public forum...
You can probably check if there is a mortgage on it.
I assure youthere isnt..
Lying about income gets you nowhere and i hate people that do
I agree if you buy and then rent it out then you end up witha house for free but i think the goverment will stop this happening in the end...
They seem to be wanting to stop us all getting an offshore account so i dont think it will be long.
Mondeo man i made £1300 on sat out of my money not being in the bank.
I bet it takes longer than a day to make £1300 intrest in a bank

Why not?
In my work we only deal in credit or debit cards, yet the usual tubes that do gardens and paint houses on the side come in with a grand in cash expecting us to take it. When we tell them we cant accept cash as a security measure they go off on one?? Put the money in a bank account you pikey cunt! How do they pay bills, direct debits, shop online etc??
Only reason i understand people not using a bank account is to avoid tax...

i got fuck all tbh, but my little one does ok,,,,, id rather plan for HER future as shes gonna find life a RIGHT arse when shes looking to get on the ladder with a old man like me
when i got her a property sorted then ill start looking at the future, ive still got me pension should i live long enough to retire
tis anoying when you only got a few quid in the bank when its payday though

dont get me wrong i do ok in life, 3 holidays a year, nights out, done some renovation on my pikey flat and bpught me a new toy to play with,,,,, i could have savings but i dont see the point as the bills i wont struggle unless i get a job paying 4.20 a hour for 37 hours a week,,,,,, and even then ill be over the bread line !
ive been putting little bits away for a property for me, then gave up and thought keep saving and hope there is a crash,,, that way ill be able to buy a bigger place and give my little one this flat ( though renting on lease hold aint as easy as free hold ! )
another idea is to fix up and set up a business,,, but not sure im grown up enough to do that and make a proper sucess of it

got about £10k for day to day expenses that fluctuates depending on what's going on with the bills or the latest gadgets that might be coming out
and i've got more than £150k but less than £250k floating about in another account earning me money just waiting for the property crash to happen, if it does
and i've got a £180k mortgage
and i've got a £330k house paid up
so not doing to badly overall as my net worth is about half a mill after everything is cashed up
got a good job too which is the backbone of my current success

Although with regards to savings, as a self employed person if I can't make a better return with my money doing what I do, than sticking it in a bank.. then I shouldn't be doing it at all!
Having said that I've always had a seperate "slush fund" for blowing on shit. I think everyone should try to keep one, to reward themselves and have some fun with their lives
I haven't had time for fun these last few years and it's grown into a bit of a chicken rather than a nest egg I was considering joining Phil in the Itallion stallion club this summer [but a proper one, not a chavved up silver special ].

I'm getting married this year, anything I did have is gone........
to other points, I regard a mortgage as a cost of living, not many people can avoid one if they want to own their own home. I'm lucky that I was quite successful with money at quite a young age and mine is quite small for the size of house that I'm in. Unfortunately for me I didn't keep the momentum going. Took my foot off the gas a bit and started to enjoy it a bit more than I should have. In a way I don't regret it as I seen and done things I would have missed if I had just continued to keep the head down. Doesn't matter tho, no point looking back, wedding is paid for, we're going to have a cracking honeymoon and I'll still have a few thousand in the bank for when I return. I live comfortably, so can't complain.

Getting married in Sept. this year too, so I know the score, still trying to save & get my car on the road at the same time....not an easy feat!!!
We've decided to just go away for a week after the wedding and save up for a big holiday next year. Best of luck!

I have no savings what so ever.
It's easy enough to make money should it all go tits up anyway in my opinion.
All my money is in gold, or property.
I find it shocking that people are saying numbers though, on a public forum, so this is either they are stupid or they are making it up.
My guess is the latter!
What a shit topic anyway, has the topic starter said how much he has saved?

I've got nothing much in savings, being 24 and all sensible with a big mortgage means that any spare cash gets spent on keeping me happy (expensive hobbies and all that!) but I don't blow it on drink and stuff!

Ive got nothing anymore, used them for the wedding last year, but that was money well spent
aiming to save £100 a month though so if we ever need or fancy anything we dont need to stress over it
putting all the money off the evo and cossie into the savings account til we find another one though, thats sort of saving

I have no idea. I couldn;t tell you whats in my current account, or any of my investments.
I could probably get the information and spend some time working it out, but I cant be arsed.
I'l start to worry when I go to the cash machine and it spits out a toffee crisp wrapper.
