Nope.. your losing your ability to argue a decent point Phil
What im saying is, yes you can all do this without a tuner, but youve proven it will take you 3 years or research and arse licking and all you will have learnt to do is follow instructions... that does NOT make you equal to a tuner Phil....
Now take these damn things back cos they werent applicable :007

I never said i am in the same league as any tuner as you quite rightly point out i am limited to the cosworth...so my TWO years of research imo has made me know quite a bit about this engine.....where have i said otherwise?
....plus where have i ever arse licked for questions...some people offer me it!.....there are others tuners out there who dont use this board you know...
As for following instructions...oh really in that case why do i not follow the tuners advice on certain things...choosing instead to go MY way....my spec is unique!

Come on Phil, a few weeks after buying your Binliner you were on here asking how to change the spark plugs because you had never seen a coil pack before LOL!
Like others have said it seems you are more interested in the respect of people on forums than your own passion, mind you, aren't we all getting a bit like that?
Get your car on the rollers or down to a shootout and yes anything that goes wrong will have people ripping into you but those who know the real deal will respect what they see, and aren't they the only people who count?
Or are you just turning everything into just you, your car and your DIY skills when really the problem is a lot of people don't, have never and probaby never will like you?
Anyway I'll end with this quote "Live by the net, die by the net."

I was referring to your constant quotes over the years of your DIY antics;
"Pissing teh tuners off" and other such bollox... im simply stating why its quite the opposite Phil...
As ive already said, im impressed with what youve achieved so far mate, youve installed a cylinder head, a turbo and adjust teh fuelling on around 6 load sites in your ecu to tune a map that a pro made almost perfect for you. Top Work like i said Phil

phill , stop it ffs
you have had some encouraging replies on this thread and even tho you have got some of the peoples backs up they are still pleased for you .
imho stu is simply stating the facts that you have had help from some of the pro's and got info off the net . and by him saying he went to college to learn it means he used other peoples knowledge to learn stuff for himself , it's only due to the fact he's spent so long doing it that he has more knowledge of the subject than you or i could ever hope to have so why argue with him ? i dont see any of his comments as a personal attack on you
stop being so sensitive m8 . and take the car out 4 a good ragging to ease some of the pent up aggression

Chill out Phil.. like i said, i knew you would get upset and still dont have the ability to participate in an adult discussion without getting upset and irrate...
All i was doing is pointing out why you get peoples backs up with your constant "Dont take it to a pro.. diy" comments, because 95% of teh members on here DO take it to a pro cos they dont have 3yrs of their lives to waste finding out how to do a simple job like you have... sometimes its easier and safer to pay.
I was also pointing out that laying a few bricks does not a bricklayer make
Chill

Tony...only wanted my cash.
SECS was unreliable
Mr Hills sent me a chip with 11% CO which i couldnt adjust down and then did not send me a replacement due to forgetting hence the urge to break the car
Karl is just arrogant..like me so we clash
Stu see above (karl)
Nowt wrong with dissing if its justified!

Now I think that's kinda funny and I'm sure other people do to, but if someone is already a little upset with you they'll use any excuse possible to piss at you. Everyone already knows that you take it personal when they talk about you and your DIY so that's the first thing they attack. The best defence is a good offence. Just ease up on the shit talking and maybe you won't get so much

If i bought you, say, a Golf GTTDi or maybe a Skoda Rs, what would you do as far as tuning it goes? Would the customer have to wait another 3years whilst you joined Vw and Skoda forums to get some idea how they worked? And befriended a few specialists to glean info from before you ultimately upset em cos you did it wrong?
Remember that the "Pro's" you constantly refer to and put down cos "You didnt have to use em" can do what you just did in a 20th of the time, do it better and they can do it to ANY car at all without phoning a friend or consulting the internet as they understand the actuall concepts behind the methods used. This means they also know what AFR to aim at, and they know the limitations of a hotwire system as well as the benefits of throttle angle speed density as opposed to AMMS but will always bear in mind its inherent tuning limitations when considering using it with over 2.5bar absolute pressure once modified.......
In a nutshell... when you ask how to do something, you then just follow the instructions given like a lapdog.. evidence of this is above where you say folk have given you "Bad Advice".. if you knew what you were doing and didnt really need tuners, that wouldnt be possible would it, as you would say "Thats not right mate" instead of doing what they said like a knob?
Ultimately i will end this essay by saying, yes, i think you have done very well indeed with your cossie and i hope to see its power and reliability proved to the world to put the full stop after your achievement, but dont let it go to your head saying silly things like "The tuners hate me proving you can DIY without their help" cos you just make us laugh. Your success story is no more sucessfull than that of a man who built a model car by following the instructions in the manual. Hes an assembler, not a car manufacturer... get my point?
Maybe something for you to think about Phil, but im sure you will just find some reason to see this as the whoile world hates you yet again...

Phil, maybe if you came to some shows and events people might take you seriously...
You do the "600bhp" so much on the net yet in real life its not your scene, so what actually is the point of having 600bhp if ya never gonig to use it

If uncle Tony tried to take your money as you say, maybe there was something wrong with the approach you took to him...
I've never seen anybody more willing (AND ABLE) to explain all the things I needed/wanted to know time after time again!
And that's without me spending a lot of money...if I didn't need something he didn't try and sell it to me but just said it didn't need it...
That's the thing Phil, you won't meet them any more easy going and helpfull as Stu, you won't find anyone more knowledgable and willing to explain than Tony IF ONLY you don't approach them 'knowing it all better' and pissing them off.
Now I don't know where Stu get's the patience from but I do know that Tony is a man of principle and if you overstep the mark that's pretty much it.
As for me: no problems with you, most of your stuff makes me laugh but too much of the same thing does eventually get boring...
