one phone takes pics of around the 300kb mark
another phone takes pics around the 2.7kb mark

how to get the other phone taking bigger sized pics please?

and yes, i've read the manual and can't find any options

If I am right, try the following and see what happens.

Select...
Camera > Options > Settings > Image quality (set to high)
Camera > Options > Settings > Image size (set to maximum, 1600 x 1200 probably).

Try that. It might be wrong though as I am going off a similar phone and not that exact model.
