last time i looked about a month ago wossner didnt do a low comp piston for the YB....so if it has wossner pistons it's deffinately 8:1 (or .2 lower if you run a 2wd head) Sorry dude just confirming your c/r for you...as you dont seem to know

You have been royally ripped off here mate....i'd be super pissed off tbh...i'd have refused to pay for it and left them with the engine (all you would have lost would be a lump..probs £1500 worth if it needed rebuilding in 1st place)

i was actually considering that fezza. but i had to give em 2 grand deposit. so i would have lost roughly 4 grand so it was like. in for a penny in for a pound.

And heres one of the cars i sold to fund the project...

I dont get whats gone on, you asked for a 500HP engine and they charged you £9K to just build it now they wont speak to you at all?

was it dennis who you was dealing with? have you Tride to call him since?

im baffled

No Gatecrasher.

The short story is that at the end of the build. they lost a box of bits. i didnt notice this until the engine was halfway in. So i give them a call and say look

the engines in but it needs the bits you have to be finished, ill bring it to you and pay you for a few hours labour to finish it off. (£300 quid)

the bloke on the phone said yeah sounds great tow it down and we will have a look.

So towed it down. (accross M25 30 mins away from my house) to be told dennis wasnt in and that i would have to leave it there. (fair enough). Monday get a phone call saying theres far too much work and they are not even willing to help. After £9000 spent and an offer of 300 quid extra to put a few bits that they lost.

I then had to take a day off work and tow it back......

I was obviosly being optomistic and ill be honest it took me and a mate (complete novices) about 10 hours.... (without a ramp).

So this what originally pissed me off aswell as them breaking the bottom pulley getting it off.

Its a strange situation down there dennis is the builder and mark pulls the strings. I had discussed with them about autronics with every intention of going to mark to get it done so they obviosly expected another 3grand from me.

i think this might be what has pissed the boss off.

its not that they wont talk to me its that ive basically prooven the cams were a disastorous choice and mark is the only person that will support 8:1 on a 500hp engine.

And paid for the privilage so why would i want to talk to them.

Although they was so unhelpfull before and they have got worse. basically got the phone put down on me when i asked the comp ration and if the head had been machined for bigger cams.

The engine seems very quiet and very good but its not what we agreed on. Unless mark can get the 500hp out of it safely which he seems to think he can....

But im 99% sure Tdi couldnt and if they could on two bd14s it would be laggy as fook......

need for speed i had already looked on wossner website and looked at pic of piston to see it had not been machined so at that point i knew it was 8:1

Just didnt want to believe it.

im not happy for 500 hp it was supposed to be 550 but now being told rods are no good for that. (well at there limit anyway) and to blow it up was never the idea. Do you think my original plan is achievable then with the prices you quoted?

Dont forget cam work. As they couldnt get any wronger.

Rods will be fine, we have used them at 600hp without issues. I do have a set of H section rods that I could do you quite cheaply if you are concerned about using the originals.... No need though...

Do a search on the Net regarding Wossner pistons.

1 engine builder in Grease wondered why one of his engines has suddenly reveloped piston slap after 2k miles. Took the pistons out and one had shrunk 0.5mm. So yeah there really good quality, do you really think DTM teams will get the same quality as common customers. I only found out about this about 1.5 weeks ago, and theres 3 others i have heard of aswell.

My own engine also developed piston slap after about 2k miles using wossners, i wasnt slagging them having had not any experience with them like some would To much silicon is our guess to why they shrink. There are probably good and bad batchs same with anything. Once i get my engine apart I will measure them all and report back, i would put money on them being smaller than when we fitted them.

Your pistons look the same as mine in the picture, they are slightly lower than 8:1 but not by much. Wossner sell them at this because thats what the YB was standard, they will make them to what ever comp you want if you order them.

so the comp could still be lower than 8:1 then. I sure hope dennis gets on here and gives his reasons.

Thanks nash i wasnt trying to be johnny big bananas but have heard that they are good other than the piston slap due to being forged and shrinking/expanding with heat.

Piston slap when cold not to important to me.

Thanks again everyone.

The comp could be lower but only to about 7.8:1/7.9:1 max if they are the same as mine, which they defo look like from the picture.

Started off not getting any piston slap, hot or cold.
Then 2k later were noise when cold fine when warm.
Then after that they were noisey when cold and hot.

Trev can tell you what it was like.

No mate. Paid in cash. All £9000 of it.

Wish i did pay on finance though as i would be onto them about not being fit for purpose.

Problem is it might peak and make 500hp with autronic for 1000 rpm of the rev range which on a rolling road is fine but shit in real driving

No point in having a 500hp motor but only being able to drive it between 6000 and 7000 rpm.

It's not upto you whether or not you pay VAT.
Companies HAVE to pay it, and TDI is a company. They charge what they charge, and the VAT they charge goes to the VAT man....on £9000, that's over £1500, I'm sure that would have been a lovely discount to give, but even at £7500 they'd still have to pay £1300 of it!!
I know they have alot of happy customers, and a few unhappy ones. I'd ring THEM or go down there to air your concerns. Whilst we all love a good tale about who is vrap, and who is GOD, it amazes me why people don't sort it out themselves. I feel for you, mate I do, but whinging on an internet Forim ain't gonna get YOU fuck all TBH, infact if they read this, they will be even less likely to help you out.
Just my 2p's worth.
Hope you get it sorted, but I know if someone was complaining to me on here, I'd be pretty pee'd off. Lots of busy tuners also do not use forums, and sure don't have the time to sit on them all day, defending or disputing their actions

No I am saying that generally it is hard for companies to not pay VAT. When they do cashers, they usually just knock off 17.5% as a discount.
Do you believe the "VAT FREE THIS WEEKEND ONLY" campaigns??

Thats my whole point mate.
Customer wants the whole 17.5% off his Bill as hes paying cash so the only person who took a risk was the business who has defrauded the inland revenue of Tax. A jailable offence. And for what? He gets Nothing extra and teh customer saves £1500... LOL

I can understand people "Going halves" on the proceeds, but only a mug would give the customer all of it.

And to answer your question, naturally i dont knock the VAT off for any customers as it is illegal.
